Do my friends need to get Visa's?

We are going with friends who all need to get passports, will they have to get visas???

I imagine that your friends would qualify for entry to the US under the Visa Waiver arrangements and would not need to go to the extent of obtaining a visa before departure. Check that they qualify:

As long as they qualify for Visa Waiver then the new passports are fine, ours were only issued in May and they are biometric so all valid.
