Do most people bother to cancel PS if they can't make it?

to call and cancel. I did have a CM tell me once that it wasn't necessary (as I was attempting to cancel an evening PS I couldn't make)...his manager happened to overhear and cancelled the PS for me and thanked me for doing so.

I always try to cancel too but there have been times when I haven't been able to.

One time I asked a CM what happens to the reservation if someone is a "no-show" and she told me that the reason that they tell you to get the 5 minutes earlier is because if you are 5 or 10 minutes late your reservation goes to some "walk-up" group.

So...although I try to call and give notice as a courtesy I do know that even if I forget the resevation will go to some lucky group.

I'm also guilty of making multiple (well double) PS's in different parks just so I know I'll be able to eat somewhere I like no matter where i am (I use my maiden name) but i ALWAYS cancel one of them in the am once I know which park I'll be in.

Like others have said - it's a nice perk that Disney offers and I'd hate to see it taken away.

:)

Remember, it is a priority seating and not a reservation for a reason. The system is deigned for some people not to show up. They don't hold a table for you and make others wait when you *don't* show up. They just put you at the front of the line when you *do* show up.

That said, it is courteous to cancel if you know in advance! We always call when we can. But, if you get stuck in a line or just get too tired and by the time you get back to your room, it's too late to call, it's OK. You don't have to feel guilty.

If you know in advance, it is better for others that you call an cancel. Then they can book your time slot. And certainly it seems very greedy and inconsiderate to make several seatings using fake names! But the honest, last minute change of plans are expected and excepted.

Hope that helps!

Well, I don't totally agree because if that were the case then they wouldn't need to implement the CC hold policy on certain popular restaurants in the last year if they didn't care whether you canceled or not or if it wasn't a problem for Disney at least for the most popular restaurants. They also do the CC thing on holidays too to prevent non-canceling PS.

I think if people continue not to cancel and it becomes a consistant problem, then maybe they'll start requiring a CC hold for all PS and I, for one, wouldn't want that to happen, so I'll continue to be courteous and cancel my PS that I decide I don't need after all.

We always call, and with cell phones now, there is no excuse. ::yes::

We've used all but 1 or 2 of the PS's I've ever made. I plan them out pretty good, I guess, and its too time consuming to start making multiple PS's.

For the one(s) we didn't use, it was a same day decision so I called to cancel from a cell.
