Do most of you book resorts early or wait until codes come out?

We have a trip coming up in November. Do you make your ressies early and then try to apply any future codes later? Or do you wait until codes are out before booking? I also am a AAA member, so I do have that discount available to me now.

Thanks for your replies!

You should book your hotel now. It isn't a big deal to apply a discount if available later. The problem with not booking it now is you run the risk of a room not being available where you want to stay.:earsgirl:

We booked our trip for this Aug. back in Jan. We do have a DC discount, but are hoping for codes to bring the price down, at which time we'll make the change to our ressie:D

I boked early and then when the code came out I called and had them change my ressie. It was no problem. Besides, I don't feel liek I am really going until have booked something :D

You guys are great! I did it! I went ahead and book ASMu for the AAA rate of $69 including tax. I do feel MUCH better now. :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Requested 2 connecting rooms in Jazz Inn. They said that there should be no problem transporting our luggage to the Swan for the last 3 nights of our trip.

Ahhhhh....I can almost hear "When You Wish Upon a Star" right now....

We booked our ressies for December the first week of January. I will keep my eyes open and in the summer when the winter codes come out, I'll just ask to get that discount.

In this economy I don't foresee 2003 holidays filling the resorts, but I just like to book early. I pay off as much as possible and when we get there, we just have to pay meals and a knick knack or two.

I book early usually with a AAA discount and then sit and wait for AP rates to come out. We did get the comeback rate already for our Dec. ressies, but I'll be watching for anything better!

I booked early with with dc discount, then found a better deal with a code and then found a better deal with another code. So book ealy you can always change when you find a better deal..

I have already booked an All star room for December. Now what I will do is try to find a room we can afford at a delux though a code or postcard. If this happens great, if not I have my ASSP room at my AAA discount. It's a fun game and as long as you have something you will be pleased with booked, you can't loose.

I booked my rooms for July last September with my DC discount and when the codes came out I used the codes and got the discount. I book early so we can have it payed for before we get there. I also book for the resort I want and try getting the discounts when they come out. It has worked great for this trip.

Hi - We go to Disney every year during the first week in December and I always wait until codes come out to book. I know our price range and I just wait to see if we can afford a Deluxe or need to go with a moderate. Last year we were lucky enough to be able to go to AKL - the year before that we stayed at CBR at a rate that was lower than the rest of the moderates (guess they were having a hard time filling CBR that year). We love all of Disney resorts and since it doesn't matter to us which one we end up with waiting until the codes come out has always worked for us. We have never not been able to get a room and have always had several choices of accomodations when I called after the codes have come out. We have actually even started to enjoy not knowing where we are staying until closer to our vacation. Have a great trip! Sherry

Sherry,

That is the week that we are going this year. When do you see the codes for this time of year come out? WE book at a value and are hoping to get a good code for a deluxe.

Thanks,

I thought the wait would kill me, but I waited for the codes to book my CBR reservation. Then, few weeks later, I got an even better code and called back and they applied it with no problem.
I was determined that I would not pay rack rate, even if that meant staying off-site. I have never paid rack rate for any hotel on any vacation. Although, when booking a hotel in Destin/Fort Walton Beach recently, I discovered that WDW rack rates aren't all that outrageous! I am paying $136 a night (discount rate) for a beach front Holiday Inn. Ouch!

Hi Jordan's Mom - I believe that last year the codes for the first week in December came out sometime in August. Although it rained this last December, the trip was great. We spent very little time waiting in lines - I think the longest we waited for anything was tower of terror and the wait was about 15 minutes. We actually didn't have time to look at some of the neat stuff you see while waiting for rides because there were no lines or the lines moved very fast. We rode buzz four times in a row on an early entry day. Have a great trip and have fun planning!

We always book early (10 mos to a year in advance) and then we will cancel and rebook if better codes come out.

We make our reservations as soon as we decide when we want to go and where we want to stay which is usually a year in advance. We book usually with a disney club discount and now we hope for codes/ap rate. We only book a room we know we will be able to afford at the rate we booked it for even if a code doesn't come out.
