to the princess character meals? I'm just wondering, because we are taking our 3 year old little princess next week, and wondering if I need to go shopping.

Specifically re: the Princess Storybook Breakfast at Akershus, the answer is the girls are about 50-50 as to whether they wear a costume. If you think your 3-yr old would love to be dressed up and it's easy enough for you to buy a costume before you go, then I say do it. But, if you choose not to, I don't think she (or you) will feel out of place at all. :)

I agree with the last poster. I was at Akershus and CRT last week and it was about 50/50. I don't dress up DD6. Those costumes are hot, itchy and uncomfortable. I don't want to carry the costume/change of clothes with me around all day either. DD just wore a princess t-shirt and shorts.

We've eaten at 1900 Park Fare for dinner twice this year.
Both times, we saw LOTS of little girls dressed up, but there were many that were not.

That's the only "princess" meal we've done lately.

I agree with one of the above posters about the costumes being uncomfortable to wear. If you have your own car there & it would be easy to change you DD into the costume right before you go in, then it shouldn't be a problem.

I agree that it is a mixed bunch - some do and some don't, but it's not like the girls who do not are any more noticed then not!

DD9 is not into the costumes, but she will usually wear a T-shirt with something specific to the meal or characters. (She's a t-shirt and shorts kind of girl!)

The Creative Board has lots of designs that can be used to transfer onto T-shirts, some very customized to the event - it's a nice touch, and we always get nice comments from the characters and CMs!!! There are some very creative folks that are nice enough to share designs!

We went to 1900 Park Fare and noticed as an above person said it was 50/50. If you'd like your daughter to feel special and have a fuss made but don't want to have to dress her in a itchy warm dress you could always just get here a tiara. The characters will make a big deal over it and yet you don't have to go overboard.

Sometimes our DD will dress up for CRT & Akershus and sometimes she just wears shorts and Tshirt. When she was 3 though she preferred to be dressed up. One time she even had a meltdown when she was little because it was hot and I did not dress her in a costume. Now that she is a couple years older she doesn't care either way.

I agree with the others. We've eaten at PSB and CRT and its about 50/50. DS was the only boy I saw who got dressed up. Princess made a huge fuss over him. This time he is going to be Peter Pan.

DD (2) will probably want to wear something sparkly when we head to CRT this trip. I think it depends on the child. My daughter is very "girly" and we have fought over not wearing the Tinkerbell Halloween costume to school. Just don't see how I can get by without dressing up in a princess costume.

If you don't buy a costume pre-princess meal, and are disappointed afterwards, I suggest booking a Bibbity Bobbity Boutique session! :cool1:

I agree with the other posters that your girls won't feel out of place if they aren't in costume. However, my Dd4 dressed like Aurora when we went to PSB breakfast and when Aurora came around she made such a big deal about it. She stayed at our table talking to Dd longer than any of the other princesses and Dd was so excited to get such attention from her favorite princess. Also, all the cast members we saw on the way over from the resort (bus driver, cm at ticket gate) commented on it. A few called her "Aurora" and one said "your majesty"- it was really cute. So, you will have a great time either way, but dressing up could add a little bit of pixie dust if your girls are into it.
