Do Magic Bands Ship to Canada

Says no International Shipping but I have read that other places for Magical Express Tags too?

Working on my first Magic Band enabled trip and a little confusing.

No delivery to Canada yet. Not sure if that will ever change. There's a few theories as to why they can't ship across the border including the fact that they are battery powered and give off a radio frequency signal compared to the RFID cards that are not battery powered and don't project any signal. One would think that the power of the Disney corporation could apply for approval eventually...but who knows. Once you select your bands, they will be sent to your Disney hotel for you to pick up on arrival.
 
Right now the only advantage of having them shipped home is, well, to have them. They are going to be your pass to Magical Express but I'm not sure if that has happened yet.

I think, maybe you can go to a park without checking into your resort first if you have the MB's already and you have tickets attached to them. That would be an advantage. I'm not sure if you can do this though.
 
I was there in November (from Nova Scotia). You do not need the magic bands to get the Magical Express and when you check in, they have carts of boxes waiting behind the desk. The boxes are labelled with your family name and reservation number and contain the magic bands. I booked on Friday morning, flew out Friday night so I had to stick with grey magic bands, and although they still give you keys to the world (just in case) the bands worked perfectly!
 
I can concur, at present they do not send them to Canada. We still get our Magical Express info, but not the bands yet. I don't know about you guys but I prefer that they do not get sent to me, I would be scared of misplacing them on the day I left! I know you would still be able to get grey ones so it's not as bad as misplacing your passport! Ask me how I know this!:sad2:

You just go into MDE and customize them in advance. Customizing them means you pick names and colors. Right now, I have a trip booked beginning Aug. 16. When I go into MDE it says that I have until July 16 to customize my bands.
 
We just got back from WDW and are also Nova Scotians.
We customized our bands on the Disney site for colors and names. They were ready when we arrived with everything connected to them- our meal plan, Magic Maker, fast passes. They were very convenient to use and much easier than using a card. I forgot I had mine on most of the time and I usually don't even wear a watch. We had absolutely no problems at all.
They were scanning Magic Bands for Magical Express if you had one but we just used the documents that had been mailed to us.

How early can you customize these bands... I told my colleague about this and he went into his MDE account and can see his reservation linked for Aug.2014, arriving on the 10th.. but nowhere does it let him customize his bands...he showed it to me..and I dont see it either .. all we see is to validate his canadian address .. then a msg pops up that at this time cannot ship to canadian address (which we knew)

You should be able to customize for August right now. I already did.

It should be under a section called Magic Bands and Cards not under reservations. Maybe you're looking in the wrong place?

I have a question for you. When you went to customize your bands, was your resort address listed automatically or did you have to change it yourself. As "disneyred" mentioned, it asks you to verify your address but it won't accept a Canadian address. The reason I ask is that I had to call in and have tech support fix something unrelated in my account. While I was talking to them, I also mentioned this problem of verifying my address and the person fixed it by entering my resort address information using my name, followed by "c'/o Disney's Old Key West...". I'm wondering if "disneyred" has to have their friend manually enter this information or if it's suppose to be done automatically. Either way, I was able to select my bands for August back in the beginning of January.

It's strange. This is my fourth trip customizing bands. My address in my contact information is my correct Canadian address. But when I customize my bands, my address is listed as Pickering Ontario, plus correct postal code, but under country it says U.S. and I am unable to change it. I'm not worried though, I know that the bands will be shipped to the resort.

thanks for info... he has not gone back since to try ...but I am curious
how are all other canadians doing this... do they all have to call and change
canadian address to resort one in order to work ??
 
I've customized Magic Bands three times now and I've never used anything other than my home address. And it's always worked properly for us. :thumbsup2
 
We have done it three times. Each time at checkin they went out back and retrieved the MB's. The boxes had our name on them and the bands were named as well ( name is on the inside). Never had to change address.
 
Living in London, Ontario, Canada, and it won't accept my Canadian address when I try to customize.

I can't go past the address verification point either.
