Do Lego Advent Calendars go on sale?

My 6 year old is a lego nut. I want to get him one of the lego advent calendars. My questions are 1. Are they worth $30 and 2. Do they ever go on sale?

Thanks!

I have never seen them on sale, but I have used a 30% off coupon at Barnes and Nobles. For that sale price I think it's worth it, but for $30, I do not.

Edited: I have seen the regular ones on sale at Target for maybe $5 off. I have never seen the StarWars Lego Advent Calendars on sale.
And: I have two kids, and they both want their own Star Wars ones, so full price is a bit too much for two, in my mind, others may feel differently. And last year the SW ones were $35, regular Lego calendars were still $30.

I've never seen the current years model on sale.

I have purchased the past years model when the new one comes out, on sale.

I see you're in NC. If you are within driving distance, there is a Lego store in the Concord outlet mall.

When the 2013 box came out, they had about 2 dozen of the 2012 that they pulled out and sold for $20.

Are they worth $30, it's a tough price to pay. But the Lego mystery packs are about $3 each, and in the Advent you get 24, so in that aspect, it is a bit cheaper. The boys have gotten some really cool characters, that they play with still, from year past.

The Star Award edition is always more than the regular Lego City.

They do here. Not deeply discounted but I know I bought one from the big bookstore near here and then they were in the Walmart flyer $10 off the next day so I returned mine. If I recall correctly they were discounted near or on black Friday on the Lego site. You can usually find a slightly better price at one of the major retailers if you look around.

In 2012, I got the current Lego Star Wars advent calendar for 50% off during a Black Friday sale, but they didn't repeat the deal in 2013 :-(

Not sure it's worth $30, but it is very cool!

I scored one on clearance for $10 at Barnes and Noble [previous year's model] about 3 years ago, and of course since then the kids want another one! I have never been able to find a deal since then better than the ones pps mentioned so I have not bought another one!

My DD is 12 and she still gets one every year. We usually order them from Lego.com - so yes, we think they're worth the cost.

That said, my DH and I both still have Lego sets from when we were children, and both continued collecting throughout the years, so we're pretty big Lego fans! :goodvibes

Last year I bought from Target, they had a $5 off Lego coupon and then I got the 5% off using the red card. I have to buy 3 so I was looking for a deal and that worked out to be the best.

Does anyone remember when they hit stores last year?

I usually buy from Lego.com to get the VIP points. They have sold out in the past (or at least they were hard to find a few years ago when it for close to Xmas).

My son loves them and he plays with those pieces a lot.

(Though like op, we are a huge Lego family).

I lucked out one year, I got a great discount on the Star Wars one at TRU b/c of a misprint (or rather something omitted from the ad). I forget exactly what it was, but it was a really good discount.

Today only, Barnes and Noble is offering buy 1 get 1 50% off educational toys. It included some sets of legos and I was able to get the Star Wars advent calendar and Friends advent calendar. If you're looking for these for Christmas, it was a better deal than the $5 off at Target from last year.

The latest barnes and noble coupon I got excludes legos in store. I bet all of them will from now on.

I noticed that too, but this states that select legos will work and all the advent calendars were included. It saved me $15 for the two sets.
