for domestic travel? we are heading to Disney in 2.5 weeks :cool1:. just want to be prepared

thanks!

and if they did I dont think you would get it in 2 weeks.

Yes.

Also, the passport control at the Florida/Georgia border can get pretty bad, so be be prepared. Try to enter via Alabama if your route allows it, it runs smoother.

:rotfl2:

word to the wise, be careful trying to enter via Alabama, go at night only and remember turn off the engine and just let the car coast for the last mile or so. :lmao:

In all seriousness, No, children do not require a passport or another form of I.D. when traveling from state to state. The airlines don't ask for any identification for minors(not even a birth certificate). As a previous poster mentioned if you are traveling out of the country I would definately allow 6-8 weeks for a passport. Children do need a passport when traveling outside the U.S. (I think).

Is there any other route into FL? I don't like the sounds of GA or AL.

You could always take the Hawaii route, I've heard it's gorgeous!

We actually just recently recieved our daughters passport in exactly two weeks from when her picture was taken and the application filled out. It was new, not a renewal, and we did not expedite.:thumbsup2

You could hop a cruise ship in Charleston and swim to Jacksonville.

Or you could float in on one of the bales coming in to the Keys from the south.

According to Last Minute Travel, Disney is actually located in Flexico. Perhaps you do need a passport?!

Come on people, the OP had a question and it should be taken seriously. With all the travel restrictions out there, it can get very confusing for first time visitors.

You do not need a passport for domestic travel. But if you plan on visiting the World Showcase in Epcot, you will need a passport to travel from country to country. Although, I think Canada may be the exception to that rule, unless that is a change starting in 2010. Another DISer might be able to help you with the Canada question.

Aw man I did NOT need to know that! Hubby's traveling to Canada for work, but it was only planned 3 weeks prior to travel, and we thought there was no chance (for my renewal and DS's first). Dangit!

OP, if you are flying, and if you have kids under 2 who do not have a seat of their own on the plane, you'll need ID to prove that they are under 2. Certified birth certificate or passport would take care of that nicely. All other minors, no.
