Do It All, or Do Your Favorites??

This has probably been posted in some form before, but since I'm new here, I'm just curious: when you go to WDW, do you do as much as you can do--whether you're interested in it or not? Or, do you skip the stuff you're only semi-interested in to do the things you REALLY like more??

For example, when I went in the early 90's, I LOVED Journey into the Imagination with Figment. When I went in 2001, it was horrible. When I went in 2003, it was better, but not anywhere near the original. Will I skip it this trip, or try it again? And what about TLS? It seems it could use improvement. What do you think?

(P.S. I hope it is not blasphemy to say that not every single thing is perfect in the World. Obviously I am an absolute fanatic and wouldn't want to go anywhere else. So please don't think I'm "dis'n" The World!!!"

everyone has their own favorites so why go on stuff that is not great to you. we skip iasw for sure unless with someone new ..then they never believe us when we warn them about the "torture chamber a la disney" and drag us on kicking and screaming, arms flailing or grabbing on to nearby door frames...you get the picture.... it will be nice this time with just hub and me so we can skip to our hearts content except *not* Peter pan (which I love and he hates)since he does not have to sit through a character meal! a deal's a deal:)

Probably depends upon one's goal for the trip. Some families are not fortunate enough to be able to return on a regular basis. They will likely be hoping for the "see all there is to see" approach.

Next spring my wife and I are taking our first vacation without our children. She was pregnant during our last two trips, so our main goal will be to hit the thrill rides. We probably won't set foot in Toontown, Fantasyland, etc.

But, when we return in December '04, it will be with the little ones and my parents in tow. That trip will be more centered around the kiddie rides and attractions.

I try to see pretty much everything, but there are a few things that I skip because I either don't like it (like the Bug's Life Movie and the Living Seas), or feel that it's a waste of my time to wait in the line for them because I can go on similar rides back home (like Dumbo and the tea cups).

Guess it depends on how often you've been--.
These days, as 26-trip veterans, we just ride only what we like. And if they happen to have any sort of a long line, we skip those--we know we're coming back again!!!
Once in awhile if we wander by an attraction we don't particulary have any real opinion about, we'll get on if there is no (or a VERY short) line. For us FIGMENT is just such an attraction.

We went in October for the first time, with DS2 and DS4 and did mostly rides and shows for the boys. DH and I are going back alone in January and doing all the rides and shows we missed the first time. Probably wont do any of the rides or shows we already did.

My touring plan is very much like Uncleromulus's after 15 trips. I'd rather spend my time just sitting on a park bench, soaking up the atmosphere, than go on an attraction that I don't truly love. And if the line's too long? Like Arnold, "I'll be back!" And occassionally if I happen on a ride with little/no line, I'll hop on.

I never do all the rides or even all of my favorites on each trip. I take a few smaller trips every year, so time does not allow to see everything a one time. I usually do a few of the same rides every tripevery trip (Buzz Lightyear, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Tower or Terror, ect.) and then hit the others maybe every other trip or so.

A lot does depend, I suppose, on how often you get to go to DW. As an adult, I've gone three times ('96, '00 and '02 -- next again in, gulp it's far away, '05). I swear there are still things we want to see that we haven't yet. We tend to focus on our favorites, while also doing some of the new items on our list (either things we've missed or learned about on places like the DIS!).

One thing we like to do, which may seem contradictory, is take time to relax and soak in the atmosphere. I love sitting on the curb outside the Rose and Crown with a beer in my hand watching people go by. Nothing like it.

Bottomline, we do not try to cram everything in each of our trips. Relax! It's a vacation! It's Disney World!

DW and I try to hit a small list of favorites each trip (HM, PotC, TTA, etc.) along with some rides the kids particularly favor (Teacups:confused: , Dumbo, Pooh, Muppets 3-D, etc.). We're making our 4th trip in March. While we are realtive newbies compared to many others, we now feel like we aren't compelled to do every little thing. Not cramming the days full has always made for relaxing vacations.

On a related note, I like the fact that even though I've been to WDW three times there are still things I have not experienced. I try to work something new into each trip.

I grew up in central FL and had APs for as long as I can remember (although sadly I moved away to Indianapolis last year, let the AP laps, b/c I didn't know when I would return, silly me, and now have not yet repurchased one since returning to FL). As my sig shows, I have been many many times (lost count really....) but the funny thing is there are still some things I have never seen for one reason or another. I have never seen the American Adventure (but would really like too) etc...

As far as your original question goes, because I have been so often and seen "almost" everything there, now when I go, I focus on new additions to the park since my last trip, and my favorites. If I don't see something, I don't sweat it, because I "know" I will be coming back eventually.

For example, I skip things I have no interest in like the Hall of Presidents. This past trip in Sept. I saw the "new" Goofy Country Dance show at the Diamond Horseshoe...and can honestly say I won't be back for seconds on that one ;)

Other rides/attractions that I really like, will, as others who are multiple-trip veterans have mentioned, depend on the length of the line. There is no way I would wait 30 min to ride Test Track when I have been on it a ton of times before.

We make a list of what rides everyone wants to go on. We are usually lucky in the fact that we have basically the same tastes(my whole family usually meets us there) . If it has a long line..we are not standing in it..we will come back to it..or ride it another day...The thing I like about Disney are the little things that most people miss because they are in a rush to get to their next ride... I like the street acts... the magicians,comedians,singers,etc....
that is what makes Disney different from other parks:D the beauty and magic of it all...it is not just about the rides::MickeyMo

We don't always go to AK, but when we go there we ALWAYS do the safari and the Lion King. This trip, I also want to do the trail by all of the animals, I loved the lowland gorillas' area, and with the sad news about these animals, I want to go by there and appreciate them.
