Hi: Does anyone know if international travelers to wdw resort need to add an extra 14 days for health insurance on top of their regular trip insurance for the duration of their stay, in case of the chance of catching corona virus or being quarantined for 14 days . There are people from all over the world in the walt disney world parks who could be carriers?

I know In Australia over half of international travel insurance don't cover pandemics. Of the ones that do cover it they only cover people who bought before the end of January. After that date they say its a known event. I would be surprised if you could buy insurance that would cover you once you travel now. You might find a cancel for any reason insurance but you have to cancel all plans at least 48hrs before your travel. Check to see if you can find any that would cover it if you purchased now

You would need to check the terms of your travel insurance. When I checked mine, the cover automatically extends if I am unable to return - although this does need to be due to something like a government lockdown or flights being cancelled - it wouldn't cover my just being unwilling to travel.

So you may be covered, but check your insurance terms.

I don't think you are looking for coverage for cancelling -- you are looking for something to pay extra expenses if you are delayed getting home after your planned vacation, right? If you become ill on vacation, your policy should cover you for extra expenses if you need to remain in the US longer (in the hospital, not cleared to travel, etc.). However, if you are quarantined on return to your home country the insurance may not cover; many exclude "quarantines."
Enjoy your vacation!

This is something you need to ask your insurance carrier about. It’s going to depend on the specific terms of the policy you purchased.

I would definitely add on additional days of health insurance if travelling to another country. Check your coverage carefully. Nobody wants an expensive surprise.

We just returned from a trip to Mexico. I have an annual policy but my DH had a single trip policy. I just bought for the number of days away. But they told me if there was a problem and we needed extra days to just phone them and we could add days. This was Blue Cross. So I don’t think you would have to book extra days and pay for something you probably won’t need. I’d ask your insurance company if you have the option of adding on days while there if needed.
