Ok so our 7 month windows is approaching fast and he poly is wide open for our dates. Here's my dilemma. Can I really justify the points.i just don't understand why it's the same as the floridian and so much more than blt? We stayed at vgf last year and although we liked it blt remains our favourite resort, proffered the pool and the walkway to mk is a huge benefit for us.
That being said the poly has always been my dream hotel after seeing pics of a school friend on vacation there before I'd even ever been to disney! So it's ALWAYS been in my head that I would love to stay there. If it was more in line with blt points I think I'd give it a go but I am struggling to persuade myself there is a genuine reason why it's more than blt and to go for it anyway. So please, for the 12 year old in me that's dying to go, tell me why I should!

Go once and see for your 12 year-old self. My thoughts are that I don't want to go while things are still under construction but I also want to go this year while the points aren't sold out and it's easy to book at 7 months.

We stayed at BLT in May and while we loved the convenience of walking to MK and the pool the studio itself felt a little cramped. We are looking forward to our Poly stay this fall. The higher points do stink but at least you will get more space and a second bath so multiple people can get ready at once. Also if you plan to spend a lot of time at Epcot you can quickly walk to TTC and get right on the Epcot monorail rather than having to transfer like at BLT

I feel the same way. It is one of the only hotels I have never stayed out and just booked a studio for March of 2016. However the points are crazy high and I keep rethinking doing it. Is there still construction going on? Maybe I should book it for just a one night stay and then stay elsewhere for our March trip.

This is my situation too. I'm booked at akl for March but Polynesian beckons. I don't think I can bring myself to pay those point prices.

We have been in Poly LV studio for 5 nights and LOVE it! In April, I had both knees replaced, and have been able to walk to the Epcot Monorail entrance at the transportation center with no problems. Yes, it will be better when construction is over, but we have no regrets regarding this stay. By the way, the outside sounds that I will miss the most is not the ferry, but the quacking of the ducks that swim around the beach! We enjoyed seeing Wishes from our balcony, wish we had the music piped in, I will put it on my iPad!

VGF studios are nice, but we think Poly's are much nicer because they are roomier, and at least there are 2 very usable under the bed drawers for clothes, and our luggage fit nicely under the bed. The sofa bed is comfy.

I think you should try the Poly!

Bobbi:)

Don't they have the music on one of the TV channels? I know they do at BLT and figured they would have it at the Polynesian.

What construction is still going on? Is the pool area all finished?

East pool area will not be completed until next year. The PVB documentation stated completion winter 2016. However, they delayed the construction from some time in June until after July 4th. Some are now speculating it will not be completed until summer 2016.

I recall someone stating they recently ran new wiring for at least part of the beach to be able to hear the Wishes music. I doubt that can be heard from PVB lake view studios though.

We've never stayed at BLT, but stayed at Poly in July for 3 nights. We loved it! The rooms are very spacious and the location and atmosphere are awesome! We liked it better than GF (comparing studios). Glad we purchased a small Poly contract.

Have you thought of a split stay? Try Poly for at least a couple of days, or else you'll always be wondering.

No, unfortunately not. I did a search while we were there and found they only do it at BLT/Contemporary.
We really liked our room at the Poly. I am still a Boardwalk girl at heart, but I do not regret staying at the Poly for 3 nights at all.
I didn't really like the long walk to the main building in August heat, but I loved the room and like the walk to the TTC.

Yes...this is my suggestion too. Try it for a few days then switch to BLT. If you like it you can do a longer trip down the line.

Same boat! We've stayed at all DVC except WL (won't be doing that for a while now due to construction), Poly and GF. Just really want to try Poly. Booked there for March, but want to switch dates because of crowd levels!

Same exact thing!!!!!! We've decided to move trip to April and stay at Poly, but for a shorter trip than usual (4 or 5 nights rather than 7 or 8)! I wanted to do GF, but I'm waiting until we travel with more family so we can get 2 BR and really live it up!!!

Going to AKL in October - so excited!!!! Have you been? It's awesome!!!!

We did one night in May just to try it. Glad we did....now my curiosity is over with. I cannot justify the points cost. The ferry boat horns blared at 5:15 a.m. (Moorea, lake view) and I feel like too much space was wasted with the bathrooms...very large, but still only one toilet. A seasoned DVC salesperson told me that originally the plans called for a knockdown but was refused because of wetlands regulations.....so that is why there are only studios. But if it is in your heart then go for it, or do a split stay. You just won't be able to stay as long at the Poly because of the point cost.

I also visited there last week while staying at AKL....the pool close to DVC is now fenced off and is a big pile of mud and rocks....so only the volcano pool is open right now.

Yes we've been. It is our home resort and we spend about a month a year there. Love it. I actually will be there for two weeks in October, two weeks in January and just booked five nights for March with my friends. PM me for resort tips--don't want to hijack the thread.
