This board is incredible! What a wealth of experience and information! I will be at WDW from Dec. 13-19, staying at HIFS. We are priority club members for whatever that is worth. I have two boys, 4 1/2 and just-turned-1. I booked the entertainment rate thanks to you! Is there anything I should know with regards to location of the room. I'm thinking that I would like to be near the lobby on a lower floor. Any area better than another? Thanks for any insight! Debbie

Hello Debbie,

I cannot answer your question, but just wanted to say hello we are going to be at HIFS Dec 12-19! :bounce: I also got the ent. rate there thanks to this board!

We went Oct. 2002. My mom flew in from NC and met us there. When she checked in, she requested a ground floor/pool side room. They told her that there wasn't one available, and she told them that she would like to wait for one to open up . By the time we got there, about 3 hours later, the room was ready. Very nice to be able to walk out and be at the pool. Walk to the restaurant area wasn't too long either.

Of course, we have 4 small boys, so being right at the pool on the first floor was a big plus for us. I guess my advice would be that if you really have a location in mind, I would request it when I got there and be prepared to wait for that type room to open if possible. (You might want to also call a few days ahead of time and have the request put on your reservation)

Too funny! You will be checking in the hotel the day we are leaving! We'll be there from the 6th-13th.

Maybe we'll see you at the desk! :)

I know we will all have a great time! For such a "slow" time of year...lots of us are going!

We stayed in building #9, parking lot side, ground floor. This location was nice because 1. we didn't have to pay the extra $20/night for a pool view. (Sometimes I've heard that people get upgraded for free, but we couldn't, and we are prioity club members). 2. We had and end unit, so just had to go thru a short walk way to the pool. 3. Easy to get to and from van. 4. Close to main building and food court.
If your staying in the section near the zero depth entry pool, the laundry rooms are on the 5th and 6th floors. I noticed that when I went to do laundry, that the elevators were slow, so I would definately recommend a ground floor (There are 6 floors).
Basically, Bldg's 6,7,8,and 9 are closest to the lobby/food/nightime entertainment.
If you choose NO pool view for bldg 6 or 7, they look out over a pond that has nice lights at night, and swans during the day. Not all of building 7 has a clear view of this. Bldg 6 and 7 are a "little"
further from parking than 8 or 9.
For our next trip, we will request pond view of 6 as first choice or 7 as next choice and really hope for a ground floor.
I would not recommend bldgs 10-14 as they are the furthest from Main lobby.
Bldgs 1-5 are around the "adult" lap pool, and on the opposite side of the lobby.
Sorry about the lenght of the post, I had a hard time condensing this one! :)
