I need tickets for 3 days. I only want to hop one evening to see a show at Epcot after AK closes. I can get 4 days for $195, or a 3 day hopper for $221. Since I do not get individual tickets, if I got 4 days, would I be able to use it for MK on day one, AK and Epcot on day 2 and MGM on day 3? OR, will I not be admitted to Epcot on day 2 without upgrading to the hopper? :confused3

If you buy a Multi-day ticket without the hopper option, you can not use it in more than one park in the same day.
The ticket will be rejected at the second park.

You could buy 3 or 4 "single" (not multi-day) tickets and do this, but that would cost a huge amount of money.

If you want to be able to hop, the cheapest way is to buy a hopper option.

That is correct, you must buy a park hopper to park hop. It's costly now to park hop unless you are staying a long time.

Think of your ticket as admission to the parks on X# of days rather than just X# of admissions. With a one park per day ticket, once you use the ticket at the turnstyles your ticket will be "tagged" to you and that park, only you can use it for re-admission and only to that park.

If you want to park hop, you have to buy the park hopper option.

How much would it cost to buy a 3 day non-hopping pass, and one regular park entry? I have no idea how much it costs to get into a WDW park, since we've been using APs for two years, before that we used PHPs, and before that we used LOS passes...

Basically, park hopping costs about $40 for your entire ticket, while a single day admission to a park is about $60. Park hopping is a bargain.

My family is in the same boat. We only want to hop one day during our trip and priced it to be cheaper to buy a 4 day non-hopper instead of 3 day hopper pass. Even a 5 day non-hopper is cheaper than a 3 day. I called Disney yesterday and asked a ticket specialist and was told that I could do this. I am going to call back and get confirmation and the name of the person that I speak to though.

If park hopping is such a bargain, then why can I buy two additional park days and still cost less than the hopping feature. Besides, it used to be included in the price of my ticket, as well as the no expiration feature. Nice bargain. But then again, that seems par for the course for Disney these days.

Good idea. Get it in writing.

You can rest assured that you cannot use two days on a non-park-hopping pass on the same day.

You cannot do this. Friends of ours did not believe me and bought a 7 day ticket without hopping for a 4 day trip, planning on using 2 "days" on 1 day, a couple of times. Well, they were turned away at the gates. They tried everything, each park on 1 day, etc. No dice.

Of course, then they blamed Disney for the whole thing and swear they will never go back. They let the extra days expire, too!

If you want to hop, you need the park hopper if you want to visit more than 1 park in one day.

If you check the WDW website as well as this website and others you will see that you can not use two days of the same MYW ticket on the same day. As I pointed out earlier the MYW tickets are sold as admission days not separate admissions. Once you use that ticket that day, it is tagged to you and that park. Only you can use it again that day and unless you have the hopper feature only for that park.

Many times things get misunderstood via telephone, she may have misunderstood you or you misunderstood her. I agree with Bicker if you can get it in writing that is one thing but I am sure your not going to be able to use two days off the same MYW ticket to "park hop". It would be a shame for you and or others reading here to go to WDW under the impression that this can be done only to be turned away at the second park. Yes, we have seen it many times and the CM does not override the turnstyles but will direct you to guest relations to determine your options.

Bargain or not its the way the tickets are structured now, if you want to park hop you have to purchase the park hopper feature.

Sorry -

Correct me if I'm wrong.. but if they are turned away at teh gates of park two.. can't they go to guest services pay the park hopper upgrade fee for each ticket and go about their business?

I thought I had read that somewhere.. (ie: It's possible to upgrade tickets to park hopper or waterpark fun & more if you choose to do during your stay)

Ok - here is the link to the FAQ on the official Disney website:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wd...productPass=null&country=USA&stateProvince=DE

Per the official site:
"Magic Your Way base tickets give each member of your travel party entry to one theme park a day each day of your ticket."

A better explanation although not an "official" website is at allears:
http://allearsnet.com/pl/ticket.htm#8

"Am I allowed to use two days off of my MYW Base ticket (non-hopping) if I decide I want to go to a second park on the same day as the first?

No you are not. The tickets are sold and the computer system is based on the number of days you have, not the number of park visits. Once you have used a non-park hopping ticket at any park, the computer system will not let you use it at another park on the same day."

Yes, you can upgrade or add features such as park hopper or non expiration within 14 days of first use. The park hopper option costs $40.00 regardless of the number of days purchased or number of days already used/remaining.

You can upgrade... it'll be about $40 (regardless of how many days are left on your passes).

The issue is that people are purchasing more days than they need or can use thinking they can hop with the extra days. Then they find they can't and have 2 or more days of non-hopping tickets and not enough vacation days to use them. They then are forced to add the hopper feature if they want to hop and even the non-expire option if they have serveral extra days they can't use on the current trip and don't want to waste.

"Just" getting the CM's name won't really do any good; as others have stated, if you have this in writing from Disney, you may have a stronger case. Also, keep in mind that the Disney CM with whom you spoke may never have (horrors!) even been to Disney World or seen a Magic Your Way pass. The "specialists" here often know more than the CMs :)
You can buy two additional park days and still pay less than you would to add on the hopper feature because, as tjmw277 pointed out, you are paying for park DAYS and not park ADMISSIONS. As for the 'bargain' aspect of the whole thing, Magic Your Way ticketing was created so that each Guest can tailor her or his park passes to her or his specific needs. You only want to go for two days, but you want to park hop? They have a ticket for that. You want to visit Disney parks ten different days, but not all on this one trip? They have a ticket for that. You'll be onsite for a week, but you're a waterpark kind of person and would like to spend a couple of days in the theme parks and four days body-surfing at Typhoon Lagoon? They have a pass for that...

Yes the MYW tickets get cheaper the longer you stay. Disney wants you to stay for 10 days not three.

Once you see that the price for MWY from 4 to 5 days is only 4 dollars, you start thinking, maybe we should stay longer. This is what Disney wants. More time in a hotel, preferably Disney, more time to eat at Disney and spend money on Disney stuff.

Yes Disney wants to make more money off of you and we are trying to find ways to not spend as much at Disney, thats why we come to the DIS boards.

Schucks, the DW and I thought we would get off cheap this year for our 8 day trip. We traded our time share for a week in the BWV and got a two bedroom. We invited family and none could come. So we get lost of room.
Planned on buying our tickets at SOG for a small discount and NO TAX. Yes we were going to pay for the dining plan since we enjoyed it last year. 8 days at BWV for under 2 grand not including plane tixs.

What did Disney do. Free dining. Messed up my whole plan. We were only buying an 7 day MYW ticket w/park hopper and planned to go to Sea World since I had a free ticket(they had a free ticket for those in the military for one day admission).

Now we added 4 more days at AKL with Savannah view, buying the MWY tickets at regular price and have to pay the tax. Wife now want to do water parks, so there went another $200.

So now have an 11 day trip with split stay at AKL and BWV for about $3000.
We were planning 14 days.

Haven't explained to wife the MNSSHP and the cost for this on our last night since MNSSHP will be on 15 Sep.

Try as we might I keep spending more. At least I own some Disney stock so I get back about a 1 cent for this trip. :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

...that is why I am going to call them back and get some form of confirmation. Otherwise, I won't do it.
