First time user at my new home. I just booked a week at SSR. I am thinking of switching to another resort at my 7 months out, but for now, this will be great. However, is there a better place within the resort to book? Is it big like Carribean Beach Resort? Where you pay more to be closer to food court. I don't know anything about SSR, they may not even have food. I just wondered if there is a favorite area to reserve, if they even can? And if there is, where would many of you request?? I want most of all to stay at Beach Club, but I will wait, and if it is available GREAT, and if not, that is okay too, just can't wait to come. Any info will be helpful.

We love the Springs area. It's right across from the main pool and main building. I wouldn't worry too much about the food court. It's not the greatest.

Depends on who you are travelling with. Do you have small children that would enjoy the zero entry pool? Do you want to be near the food court? We actually enjoyed Artist Palette very much. In that case you may want the Springs. All three building are close to the bus stop. Do you plan to frequent DTD, if so you may enjoy Congress Park. Our first trip to SSR I had requested Congress Park 11 months out. Upon arrival we were unable to get Congress Park and got a room in a Springs building. Very disappointing but guess what? We loved it! So much so that given the choice of both on our next trip we chose the Springs. I was always someone who obsessed about room requests, views, etc until joining DVC. Now I pretty much let the chips fall where they may and no longer make requests until I check in other than Non Smoking. We have not been disappointed yet! Good Luck and enjoy SSR!

When you book do you request springs area?
Magicmommy- We don't know if we are bringing any big boys with us. We have 6 six children, with most of them grown. This will be our first time coming DVC, so we thought we might just come the two of us. I was told book studio first, and then you can sometimes up it to 1 bedroom, but studio's sell out first?? New at this so looking to this board to give me all the answers. DS's are 14 & 16, and not sure they will be able to get out of sports at the time, so, at least we are booked right now. Thanks for the information. Do I have to call back, and put in that request? or Fax it in? or what would you suggest? Actually we WANT to be at Beach Club, but I know I can't book that one yet. So we may just try out our home resort and see what we think. We KNOW we love Beach Club, never been at the Villa's only the hotel part of it, but loved it.

You can call back and add a request to your ressie anytime. My DS's are 16 and 14 too! How long are you going for? Have you considered a split stay? Disney will move your luggage for you. We are doing a split stay in August. 1 week at BCV and I week at SSR.

We love Congress PArk since we can see the fireworks at night and walk to Downtown disney...

We have ressies at SSR for NYE... I asked for Congress Park, but not sure I'll get it since I'm not checking in until Dec 31st. But who knows... I might try and switch at 7 months, but that might depend on how our resort tours go next month. :goodvibes I'm planning to visit each of the DVC resorts while we are there for 12 days.

when you say you can request a split stay, does that mean I change locations in the same resort? OR do you mean, change locations half way thru to another resort?
When we come to WDW, which is only about every 2 years, airfare is too expensive from the west for us, anyhow, we will stay for 3 days in one resort and 4 days in another one. That way we get to see more resorts. ARe you able to do that? Does Disney transfer your luggage over? It seems like a lot of work to switch over, but that way I could see more of the resorts. If you only use the shuttle service back there, and don't rent a car, are you able to do that thru DVC?? Thanks for all the help in trying to figure this out.

Yes minniesmom. Our last stay was 3 nights at BCV and 8 nights at SSR. We are doing the same thing this August, 1 week at BCV and 1 week at SSR. Its a good way to experience more than one resort. We used DME so we did not have a car either. They moved our luggage for us and it was quite easy.

Thanks Magicmommy. I think that is what we will do. Do you own at both resorts, or do you just wait to book at 7 months out?
Have you ever done a 3 or 4 day cruise and do the resorts all in the same trip. We thought about doing that. Maybe next year. WE just banked our 05 points, because we knew we weren't going to go until Dec...
Thanks for the imput...

We own at SSR and have had 3 trips that have been booked at other resorts at the 7 month window. 2 were in August and booked BCV and this coming May I was able to book a BW view studio at BWV's at 7 months!

We like Congress Park overlooking DTD. Stayed there for New Years and had a great view of fireworks throughout Disney World in addition to the great display at DTD.

They stopped doing the fireworks at DTD at the beginning of the year, unfortunately. I wonder if they'll start them up again sometime....

We were very happy with the Springs. We had a nice view of a little garden and a fountain and were right across from the pool and close to the bus stop. We also liked being close to Artist's Palette and the lobby since we're awfully social people.

I was amazed at how close to DTD Congress Park was. That might be nice if you plan to spend a lot of time there...you could easily walk back and forth.

Oh my gosh that is the first I have heard about the fireworks being stopped...Wonder why????
