Help,

I so don't know what to do. We are going to Disney :cheer2: 2/23 to 2/29 with a 6year old and a 21month old in a leg cast. I have a pretty nice umbrella stroller (not the real cheap ones). Should I bring my own stroller for the parks or should I rent one. One friend told me to rent a double so the 6 year old can use it when needed. I think thats a good idea, but it is dumb to spend almost 100 dollars on a stroller when I own one?? Please give me advice. :worship:

For $100 you could buy a double and bring it and sell it after
or buy used and sell after

I would definitely bring my own stroller with a baby in a cast. I assume the baby is not able to walk with the cast on, which means you would have to carry them to and from your car/ the busses to the rental area. It is so nice to be able to leave a sleeping kiddo in the stroller as you are walking out of the park. Yes they tend to be a hassle while getting on the shuttles, but I think it would be worth the hassle. You would also have the stroller for around the resort if you decided to go exploring. HTH.

I just don't know which will be more comfortable. My umbrella does not recline. By the pictures, it looks as if the park strollers might have more support for her leg?

It seems like this is one of the most controversial subjects that comes up on this board. People seem to be in one camp or the other. My experience kind of leads me to this rule of thumb (aside from cost): if you are staying on site, then you probably want to take your own stroller(s), but if you're staying off site rent.

My reason for this is that when we've stayed on site we do a lot of walking from our room to the the bus and from the bus to the park, etc. and there it's generally not hard to get a stroller onto the buses. During the morning rush or evening rush it's a bit of a pain, but if you only have one infant and you have 2 adults, then it's not that bad. On the other hand, if you are coming from off site, bringing your own stroller is not that necessary and it's just plain hard to get them on the trams from the parking lot.

Finally, the other thing that I think plays into the decision is the number of infants to adults. On our second trip to Disney with our kids we had a 1 year old and an 2.5 year old. That meant my wife had to deal with both "babies" while I wrangled the strollers/packages/diaper bags onto buses. At that stage we found it easier to carry one kid each than unpack and fold up strollers.

I am one who thinks renting a stroller for kids 5-8 is a must..... for me, it is the best money I spend there and I take them alone and push both of them myself. With your little one in a cast though, I would bring her a real stroller that is more comfortable.... and then rent a stroller for the 6 year old. If she were not in a cast, a double rented there would be fine. It is also a handful getting the strollers on the buses(unless you have several people helping you). My girls will be 6 and 8 next trip and I will rent them a double. They wont' be in it all the time, but the time they are is so worth it to me. Plus somewhere to hang my backpack.

I would probably do both. Bring your umbrella stroller for use at the resort and rent a double at the parks. We rented one for our girls, who were then 5 and 7, and found them indespensable. Epcot and Magic Kingdom are BIG! If you get there and discover that a double will just not work for your littlest one, then you still have your umbrella stroller and the option of renting a single. Also, if you want to use your umbrella stroller to and from the park but a double inside, you could always rent a locker. Not sure of the cost, though. Good luck!

I think you'd need to, at the very least, bring a stroller for the 21 month old w/ a cast. And perhaps rent for the older child, unless you think you'd need a stroller outside of the parks for him/her too.

I did also want to mention you should go to Guest Services when you arrive and inquire about a Guest Assistance Card (GAC) for the child w/ the cast (the child will need to be present.) You can check out the DisAbilities board FAQ for more info on the GAC.
