Do I *really* want to do Test Track?

Today was my 60-day window and since I didn't want to waste time I made the exact same FP reservations for all three people in our party. I already deleted myself from Space Mountain and Star Tours but I don't know what to do about Test Track. I basically made the reservation for DS13, who is a huge car/racing/computer simulation enthusiast. As for myself, I keep reading the description of this ride (IS IT a ride?) and I'm, well, bored. Also, I suffer from motion sickness. I basically suffer through Soarin' because I love that ride so much. Otherwise, I don't do simulation rides. They make me sick. So . . . What the heck IS Test Track anyway, and if I ride it will I feel sick?

It's not a simulation ... you're actually on a car on a track. It does a lot of swerving because they're "testing" out the car's performance, and then at the end you have the high speed straight-away and bank. All in all, I think it's a pretty tame ride (I mean, everyone has ridden in a car ... perhaps even a convertible .. going 70 mph), but the swerves and stops earlier are a bit violent.

I get motion sick REALLY easy - any simulation ride, anything that spins. However - I LOVE Test Track. It really moves - not a simulation. So - as long as you don't get car sick when riding in a car - you will probably be fine.

I loved the old TT. Haven't tried the new one yet. The description here sounds a lot like the old version.

This is one of the few rides my whole family does (mom, dad and fiance). My mom loves roller coasters but has two hip replacements and a knee replacement and cant sit in any seat that could possibly finagle them out of position (think: space mountain) and she does just fine, even with the quick stops and veering. My dad hates roller coasters but rides this one every time and my fiance gets motion sickness and has no problems here since as others said, its a car moving along a track. In all honesty, I have the most problems because I'm a nervous drivers and some of the scenes get my drivers ed instincts going :rotfl:

Like other said, it's not a simulator, it's an actual ride. The inside part is kind of "jerky". You will accelerate quickly (not going too fast) then stop suddenly. The car will jerk left/right as if avoiding an accident. There are also a few slow spots where you're just rolling along at 5mph. Then it goes outside and that's the "thrill ride" part of it. It goes roughly 60mph (the "car" is a convertible) and goes through a steeply banked left turn. I love it because I'm a car and racing guy, but if you get motion sick, it may be a challenge.

New Test Track is the same motion/track as the old one, but now it's Tron themed and you get to make your car which is pretty fun.

I get motion sick pretty easy and can do Soarin no problem. I don't do big coasters (Everest, Space Mountain). I got sick on both Star Tours and Test Track. I tried them both for the first time this last trip and can pretty much guarantee no more for me.

Many others above have described, but I will provide some detail. Test Track is a ride where you will board a 6 passenger car and enter the "Sim Track" to test it's performance. In the queue area you can create a car on a computer and store it on a card or Magic Band. This car will have certain attributes and can be synched to the ride to show the performance of each passengers's car (this does not affect the actual motion of the ride). You will board a car that has rubber tires and drives much like a real car. It is attached to the track through a groove in the middle, similar to a slot car. The inside part is very computer themed (some say it is like TRON). It will take you through a few "tests" like a hard braking run, and sharp turns. It can be a little jerky at times, but most of it is calm. Then the car will head outside and hit the gas. It goes about 60 MPH on an elevated track with banked turns. This part is pretty fast, but it is smooth. The car will go back inside for you to disembark.

I hope that helps you. It's a fun ride!

If you go into thinking you’ll be bored, you’ll probably be bored. Because, as others have said above, it’s basically just being in a car that does some quick maneuvers for a few minutes, and then you accelerate quickly and go around a track. It’s a fun, but tame, ride for the whole family. Seems like it would be hard to get motion sick on it unless you are very easily triggered. Basically, it’s fun and a great one to do with your car-loving DS!

I think you need to try it to get an idea of whether it is boring and will cause motion sickness. Personally, I don’t like the jerkiness of the first part of the ride and find it boring. I love the track portion of the ride. I have not experienced motion sickness or even wooziness on TT and I am prone to mild to moderate motion sickness.

If you choose not to ride, you can just enter through the gift shop and go ahead and buy your next vehicle in Chevy's showroom there. I've always wondered how many cars they actually sell there.

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a simulation ride that would make me sick. But it does sound like something DS13 would really enjoy and I'm already skipping the roller coasters so I will definitely give TT a try.

I also get motion sickness easily. I rode Test Track once and probably won't ride it ever again. I didn't get sick from it but it was so jerky I thought I was going to have bruises on my shoulder from the seat belt.

This is not a simulator and it really does not promote motion sickness unless you are an extreme case. If you can drive down the highway, you can handle this. The car does not even reach "high speeds".
