When I plan my trips I always look at the EMHs. I KNOW morning EMH are much less crowded and a so much more efficient use of time. BUT... that long 3 hours of evening EMH is always so tempting. I KNOW evening EMH are just so crowded. But they are so tempting. And after running around all day in the parks I need my sleep. But the parks are open LATE. I love the park lights at night. I guess I will just have to wing the evening EMHs.

Now to give my rather substantial list of ADRs to my favorite travel agent. Sorry Kathy.

I always grapple with this every trip too. We typically don't visit an evening EMH park until the evening anyway, but we're always tempted to stay up late as well. We've come to the conclusion if we do stay for an evening EMH our morning is pretty much shot. Unfortunately, the morning is the best time to hit big ticket attractions with little to no wait. Additionally, the best park to visit in the morning is the park that had evening EMH the night before. We typically follow that rule and it works great!

Sleeping your time away at WDW is tough, but it's a necessary evil. Most guests hit a wall after about the 3rd or 4th day of their trip. That's when you start feeling the affects of less sleep, constant movement, crowds, and the heat & humidity.

Have a great trip Kim!

We plan to take a break mid-day, maybe even a nap so we can go longer in the evening. Does anyone else do this?

I'm a night owl..so I usually don't sleep when EMN(extra magic nights) happen. If I do..I go back to the hotel about 3-4pm and take a nap. Usually head back to the park about 6-7pm. I must admit that I love it too!! The last time I went..there was EMN at MK. We rode Splash Mountain 7 times in a row!! The last three times the CMs let us stay on cause there was no one waiting in line!!! That was too sweet!!!:thumbsup2

I used to be able to go all day and night. Unfortunately, age has caught up to me and by the third day I crash if I do this now. Last trip I relaxed a bit and found the pool time and people watching really enjoyable. We also met alot of really nice people just hanging at the resort.

You most definitely need sleep.

I just got back from a crazy long weekend trip. Despite the fact that i know better, I was out until 1am every evening, up at 7am every morning and didn't take any breaks.

Here it is 4 days later and I'm just starting to feel normal. The exhaustion, sore feet and sore knees hit when I got home.

I'll be reminding myself of how tired and sore I was after this trip if I ever think to do that again.

I found you question amusing when I saw your tag!

That's always our problem, too. I know I get really grumpy a few days in if I don't get enough sleep. Bummer.

If you really don't need sleep, just think of the money you will save since you will not need a hotel room!

But, I think Aaron's answer is better.

I truly am a person who needs their sleep. And I do like to nap in the afternoons when I'm at Disney. I haven't made it to the end of an evening EMH yet. I mostly just stay for a while and enjoy the people. Its usually too crowded to do much else. I will aim for morning EMH. And get my sleep.

 Don't know if you were quoting The Princess Bride but I love that line!!

Back on topic, I wish I didn't need sleep while we're at the World! I'm planning on doing one EMH night in a couple weeks but it may back fire on me!!

This made me laugh....I need my sleep too, but I wind up staying all day and evening...when I get back home, I'm exhausted and need a vacation from my vacation....Have a wonderful time !!!

I've never done a morning EMH...in fact, I'm still trying to make a rope drop. I'm just not a morning person. When we go we never go to the park that has the morning EMH for that day and try to do the park that had the evening EMH the night before. We do really enjoy the evening EMH hours, but we don't go during summer or peak times so this plan has always worked really well for us.

I feel your pain, but I always try to work in both morning and evening EMHs when possible. I JUST CAN'T HELP MYSELF!!!! :worship:

Lisa, you would be so surprised by the number of rides you can get done by going during morning EMH. I do my VERY best to get to the parks before rope drop, especially to the EMH parks. As an example, I hit MK on a normal morning at rope drop. I was able to do EVERY ride I wanted to and leave the park by 1:30. You would be amazed how uncrowded the parks are before 11 am.

You may not need sleep but I sure do. :lmao:

We get to the parks at RD, the early RD the better! I miss the 0700 RD. :lmao:

In the morning you can get on so many E Ticket rides multiple times before the crowd hits. Soar'n and TSM being a possible exception. For those we get FP's.

Next trip we might try a evening EMH at MK. This next trip we managed to schedule a extra day which we have left open with nothing schedule except sleeping in late. We have never been able to do this on previous trips and we have been trying to slow down and spend a bit more time in the resorts. We do NOT go commando but we still want to slow down a bit more.

On our first couple of trips with kids, the kids could not stay up late. They were just too tired. We would go back to the room around lunch for naps which helped. Unfortunately, now a days, the parents needs the naps while the kids are all wound up and rar'n to go. :scared1::)

So we might try the evening EMH at MK since we can all sleep in the next day. We have been trying to get to DTD for years and we should be able to do so on the day after the evening EMH.

The parks are sooooo different at night with the lights and we have not seen that much now that we have kids.

Later,
Dan

Just back from the World! We did rope drop each morning, and once again found that it is definitely worth it. An empty park, time to ride every ride we wished, no crowds...that's my favorite way to do Disney. As the morning wore on, the crowds grew and we were free to stroll the rest of the park.
