Do I really need to check-out and then check-in?

I made reservations for WL Aug 28-Aug31. CM charged me the August rate, which was higher than the September rate (which starts Aug 29th). Got the confirmation in the mail. I called back to get the Sept rate for the last two nights (aug 29 and 30). They set up the reservation under one confirmation number, but with two reservations (one night plus two nights). I had to make two deposits, too. Said I would need to check out on the 29th, then check back in. I'm guessing this is the only way the CM could get it to work out on the reservation system.

Anyone else ever deal with something like this? Am hoping the front desk can make this seamless (so I don't physically need to checkout).

This is my 3rd stay at WL. Does that make any difference in getting an upgrade? Hoping this two reservation thing doesnt' complicate that, too.

You will have to check out and check back in again to get the better rates.

But when you check in for the first time mention that to the CM. She can note that in your record so chances are that you wouldn't have to switch rooms.

You will have to get new cards for the room though. It usually is very quick and easy.

I would also call reservations and have it noted in your record about the continuing stay so the room assigners will see it.

Had this happen once. Spoke to the CM at check in and explained the whole thing. They advised that I would more than likely not change rooms in the process but that I would need to stop by the desk on the morning of the first "check out" date. I did this. we did not have to change rooms. The CM said it was taken care of with a smile. We went to the parks and had a long day of fun. When we returned we went directly to our room very tired. The key did not work. We went back up front and the CM re-coded the key and said that it was fixed. It was not. Three trips and a very upset wife later we finally got a service guy at the room to check the lock and fix it there.

Wow dawgfan!! That stinks!! Sounds like you got a green CM. Like safetymom said you have to "check out" the morning of your first check out day basically to get new room keys. The whole process only takes about 5 minutes, if that, and just means you have another set of room keys as a souveneir!!!

We did that our last trip- we actually had 3 reservations as we had a room only, package, room only. All went great. We did not have to change rooms and we now have a boatload of keys as a rememberance :)

We had to do this at CSR and informed the CM the first checkin of the situation that way they can make a note to try and keep you in the same room. The next morning we stopped off at checkin on our way to MK and it took just a few minutes to update our room keys and we were able to stay in the same room. :)

We did this last year at the POFQ. We had to check out and back in. Everything should go well unless the computer is down! It took almost 45 minutes and we were stuck since our UPHes were tied to the check-in. We did not need to move rooms (make sure the continuation is noted on both reservations and remind the CM)

Hi! I just got back from Pop Century and we had to do just this. I had a room only reservation, then package deal, then room only. So I had to check in 3 times! But actually a CM left a message on our phone the night before we had to do the checkin/check out thing and they said that someone would come to the room to deliver our keys and do the paperwork! So a CM came in the morning on a Segway with our keys and the paperwork! It was so fun. The only thing is that they say they can deliver between 7:30 and 8:30 or 9:30 and 10:30. So you need to stay in your room for which ever hour you choose. (I chose the early time.) So, it may be more convenient to just go to the front desk for some people. But I knew that we wouldn't be out of the room before 8:30 so it was ok for us.

We had this on our Thanksgiving trip. We just mentioned it at check-in and the CM said no problem-we would not have to move. I went down to the front desk early that morning(7am right when they opened) and it was done in one minute-just issued new rooms keys. That was it! Don't give it another thought!

I did this in January with three check in times for five days! It was worth it, though! (going from savannah view to concierge back to reg savannah view) I couldn't get the AP rate for concierge the entire time and I wanted to "stay married" so booked what I was able to. I kept the same room the entire time (never went up to deluxe because keeping the room was more important to me than getting a few more feet). It was quick and painless! One thing to keep in mind, when you recheck in make sure you have your credit card with you since they have to redo your cards, and your credit line! I had left mine in the room and ended up sending my son back to the very VERY last room on the trail to bring down my real purse with the real credit cards (as opposed to my "fake" travel purse with Disney cards! LOL).

Long post, but it is VERY easy!

Thanks, everyone! Sounds like many have had the same experience with little inconvenience.
