We are traveling from Virginia to WDW in December. I am concerned about possible weather delays. Do I need trip insurance or is a waste of money??

I always get trip insurance, because, weather being good or not, you could end up with an illness or even worse in the family which would put off your trip. I'm pretty sure there is a limit as to when you can purchase it, though. Your sig says you already booked airfare, and most insurances need to be purchased within 2 weeks of initial trip payment. Not sure when you booked the trip.
Check out insuremytrip.com, it gives you prices and details to compare policies.
Good luck :goodvibes

Agreed. I always purchase trip insurance if there's any chance of losing money if we have to cancel the trip or leave early. For example: if we're flying somewhere, or have to pay a hotel ahead of time (non-refundable). If we're just driving, and can leave when we want with no penalty, no insurance.

We always get the trip insurance.

We work hard to be able to take a vacation and need to protect that "investment" in case something happens that would make it not possible for us to go.

When budgeting, saving and planning it gets figured into the cost automatically.

I booked the trip 11/14/11. I didn't get airfare until a few weeks ago ( and air is not thru Disney). Would trip insurance cover the flight?

I am wondering about the insurance as well. We have booked our flights but they are with Southwest and we can always use them for travel later in the year. I am worried about hurricanes, that is really the only reason I was considering buying it. But if I am reading things right, I can cancel anytime after the 45 day mark and still get back all but the deposit, right?

i always get it b/c i like to go to WDW in the fall, during hurricane season. as someone said it is protecting your investment and the price is worth the piece of mind. i would check the terms on all your reservations and go from there.

We've never gotten trip insurance before, but I've heard of insuremytrip.com. I had no idea they had so many companies on there! When I searched for our upcoming trip, it had 170 plans from 22 companies. How do you narrow them down?? Are certain companies better than others? For those who use this site- how do you pick?

Yes, you can get your airfare covered. Keep in mind at this date, you will not be covered for any pre existing conditions.

As far as which company, I always use Travel Guard for my family and my clients.
