Do I Need To Take A Booster Seat?

My DD will be 4 and a half when we go to WDW. I have pre-booked the fully inclusive car insurance package with Virgin so I am unsure whether the booster seat would be included in this or not.

However, if not, do I need to take one? I don't mind taking a booster seat but to save time, I was going to wait for the luggage at the carousel whilst DH sorted out the car. Would they actually need to see the booster seat or would they take my hubby's word for it that we had it.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

From what I hear you have to hire these at a few bucks per day. We are gonna take ours as we will need two and are there for 21 days so not cost effective

They don't ask at the car hire but can I suggest you check the airport website - you have to claim your baggage post-immigration but then you have to put it back on a shuttle to go to the other part of the airport. Its a long and complicated process (I'm sure our luggage went through 2 lots of x-ray machines landside!)

When I asked these questions before travelling someone kindly sent me the link for the website giving the rules on car seats etc. as DS (5) uses the built-in booster in our Corolla so we don't have one. (If no-one posts it by the time I log on at home I'll post it but I'm at work at the moment - and very busy as you can see!) I took one of those clip-on triangle things that holds the belt away from the face, but it made him uncomfortable and we found he didn't need it in the car we had anyway (or I would have bought one from Walmart).

From 4 to 6 they have to be secured in the car but a normal seatbelt counts - and they have to be in the back.

Happy motoring :moped:

We have always taken our own booster seat and have never had to show it to the car hire company. Most of the time they have only seen me and didn't ever ask about the rest of my party. They only seem bothered in getting you to upgrade your car.

We travel with Virgin, and we take out the platinum insurance which includes a car seat. This year we paid $5 a day for a car seat.

Florida law states that any child under 5 needs a booster sear. You could take your own which we did last year and just checked it in with our cases, or make a stop at Wal-mart on your first day and get one there. They are very reasonable and way cheaper than renting one from the car hire company.

The rental car company car seats/booster seats are also beat up and dirty. I bring my own for my 5 year old. If you don't want to bring your own, a seatbelt should be OK until you get to the Wal*Mart. You can pick up a Graco backless booster with cup holders for less than $20 USD.
