We want to have lunch or dinner at Sci Fi during our trip to MGM, but not sure what day we are planning on being in MGM. Since we will be there at the end of Oct do you think I need to make reservations or can I do it first thing in the morning?

Also with reservations do you need to leave a credit card number? What happens if you don't make it and can't make it to a phone??? Do they charge you a cancellation fee?

Thanks

Let's start with your last question first - no, when making PS you do not leave a credit card (I think you do at Victoria & Albert's & maybe California Grill, but I'm not sure). If you don't show up for your PS - no trouble - and to my knowledge there is no "Failed to Show Up for a PS" list.

Whether you make a PS or not is strictly up to you. In late Oct, you probably won't have a problem making it the morning of the day you plan to eat there. I would suggest (assuming you are staying at a WDW resort) that before you leave your room you make the call (there is a button right on the phone). That way you don't have to waste precious park time waiting in a line to make a PS.

It is a rare ocassion that we make PS - we don't like to be burdened with knowing that we HAVE to eat at a certain place at a certain time - but that's just us. We try our first choice, if its available, we all go "how cool is that" - if it is not we revert to 2nd Choice or 3rd or whatever. Now if it is someplace that one of us really wants to go to - we might consider making a PS, but only after we tried in the way I just described.

Have fun!!!!!

I've walked up to Sci-Fi mid-afternoon without a PS and got seated without much wait.

No, but I do have a page on restaurants that do ask for credit card information. Except for Cinderella's breakfast in the castle which needs a credit card for a deposit, all others are just to hold the PS and do have cancellation rules. Here's my page: PS Credit Card Policies

As to Sci-Fi, chances are you could make a PS the day before or from your room the morning you visit MGM. Last October, we saw walk up wait times the day we visited up to an hour in mid-afternoon. We had a PS and waited only 25 minutes.

My suggestion is IF you really want to eat at Sci-Fi, plan accordingly and get a priority seating. Oh, and there is no penalty if you don't show up. :)

If you are going the last couple of weeks in October...around the 20th and on...I would make a ps...I believe the golf classic is going on around that time..the parks and restaurants get very busy. Also...extra people in the parks for the halloween party's.

You can go without a ps, but expect a wait if it is during one of the rushes. Go early, or late, and you should be fine! Make sure you ask for a car, for the best seats!
