....with a 4 year old and plan to take Disney Transportation while we are there, of course staying onsite? I have never done it so I don't know if there are busses/shuttles for everything, including the ride from the airport? A car seat would not be required then, correct?

Car seats can't be used on any Disney transportation as there are no seat belts to secure a seat. You can use a car seat on the plane provided it is approved for aircraft use (it will be labeled as such). Some parents choose to do that due to safety concerns and/or if their child may be more comfortable and calm in the seat. You do obviously have to haul a car seat around with you even though you will use it only on the flights.

Hmmm....good thinking. Not sure we could get through the flight without it. Plus I would feel safer. He is autistic too so it may help to keep him put if he decided he wants to start moving around. OK...thanks!!

Keep in mind that the airplane seats aren't very big. I don't know what size your car seat is or what size your 4 year old is, but I know from experience that there will not be much, if any, leg room for a 4 year old in a car seat. I quit using car seats on the plane once my kids were about 2. The kids didn't have room for their legs so they kept kicking the seat in front of them.

IF you use a car seat for a 4 yr old as the PP said they will kick the seat so it is best to have someone from your party sit in the seat in front of the child so they don't disturb an innocent stranger. I never used car seats on the plane and never had any problems. Remember it can't be a booster seat that uses the seat belt. I also would never drag a car seat around the airport if I wasn't renting a car.

This is excellent advice.

Another thing to remember is that the car seat must be in a window seat.

Same here. My son is now 4 and he has not used a carseat on the plane since he was 2 years old. He is very tall and there is just not enough leg room.
