We are planning to stay in a 2BR at OKW 10/26 to 10/31. The crowd levels for WDW that week are low in UG. I thought I would just wait until 7 months out from the last night and book it all at once. Is that ok, or am I playing with fire? I have never booked DVC day by day before, how do I do it if need be? Does member services get crabby about it? We will also need 2 studios, but I don't believe they will be a problem. Thank you for your words of wisdom!

PS- If I mess this up, DMIL will never forgive me. She chose the month of the trip and it will be her first trip with the grandkids :)

I think you will be fine if you wait until the last day but just to make yourself more comfortable, call on the first day and tell MS what you are interested in and ask them how it looks. They will tell you if things are tight or not. If they are, you can start the reservation that day.

To do day by day just tell MS what you plan to do and the last day of your reservation and call back each day. They really don't mind and do it often.

Have a great trip and remember worse things can happen to you than having your MIL never talk to you again. I tried for years to make mine stop and she never got the hint.;)

Thanks very much HBC! :) We just changed our dates from 10/10 arrival to 10/23, I think if we would have kept them the same we might have been there the same time as you, judging from your countdown timer.

Just a word of caution, while the crowd levels at the parks are relatively low at that time of year, DVC usage is usually heavier because the points requirements are low and the Food and Wine Festival is going on. If you were trying to get BWV or BCV for that time, the 7 month window might be a little dicey and you would probably have to book day by day (you'd probably even have to wait list a day or two). Since OKW is further from Epcot where the Food and Wine activities are located, it will be much easier to book at 7 months. I'd take the advice of one of the other posters and call on the call in date for your first day and ask MS what it looks like. Let that be your guide for the rest of the booking.

I'm in the middle of booking day by day for the BCV
phoning when the office opens and it is only taking 4 - 5 minutes

good luck with the booking

I have never done a day by day reservation for OKW since we became members in 1994. We have gone for xmas week for the last 3 years and are going this year and even for those weeks we have called at 11 months when we could make the whole reservation and had no problem. I do not think that people should assume you need to do day by day reservations as a rule. Some resorts and requests such as standard view at BWV or VWL for xmas are some of the exceptions, but we have not had any problems at OKW even at 6 months for June, even BCV at 7 months for June, so I'll continue with my reservation plan. Now HHI, you need to plan for 11 months and summer is tough, but we also have not had to do day by day, because we were flexible with dates.
