Do I need proof I booked ME?

OK I've been a long time lurker but just wanted to post a quick question. (I've found the "Search" function works really well...just about all the questions I had, I could find the answers to just by doing a few searches and some digging). Anyways, I'm planning on booking a trip in a few days that goes from 10/4 to 10/8. It will be just under 3 weeks from booking to trip, so I'm thinking that I won't be receiving my voucher/luggage tags in time. This is no problem, anyways, as I would rather just pick up my own luggage and have it travel on the bus with me. If I've read everything correctly, I can call CRO, book my resort stays, tell them that I want to use Magical Express, give them my flight info and everything, then be all set. Then when I land in Orlando (which will be around 10:00pm), I'm allowed to go get my own bags, report to the ME Welcome area, and have the bags travel with me on the bus to the resort. Whew...I hope I have all of that correct....

So basically my only concern remaining is that, how do the CMs at the ME area know that I have booked ME? Since I'm not anticipating receiving my stuff in the mail ahead of time, do I need something that shows I am staying at a Disney resort and have requested to use ME?

Try to get a written confirmation of everything you order on the phone or the internet.

Or at least get the name of the person you talked to.

Anecdotal evidence has it that written confirmation of Magical Express often does not come even after being requested but also that with a Disney room reservation (you got written confirmation of that, no?) anyone showing up at the Magical Express welcoming area gets on.

Getting in to Orlando after 10 PM it is recommended that at least one person in your party go to the Magical Express welcoming area first.

I kind of figured that all I needed was a confirmation number of some kind, and they'd be able to look it up and tell that I had booked. I still have not booked my trip yet (still waiting to hear from someone) and don't really plan on booking for another week yet for an arrival date of 10/4. Yes, I know I'm pushing it, but I'm hoping that I'll have no problems booking that late.

So, based on that time frame, I don't plan on getting written confirmation of my room reservation, either. Is that going to be a problem? I could always print the page from the Disney website that has my reservation information, hopefully that will suffice?

If you go to the disney website, find destinations, find resorts, then find "my disney vacation". Your reservation can be accessed by either signing in or using your confirmation number.

You can view all the details of your reservation incluidng transportation options. Mine says, Ground Transportation, Disney's Magical Express - arrival October 4 and departure October 10, lists my flight times and the names of our traveling party.

I have not received anything pertaning to DME yet so I printed a copy of my reservation from the website for confirmation if necessary.

OK good that's what I was hoping for. I just wanted to be sure that I didn't have to receive something in the mail in order to be confirmed. Thanks for the help!

I did not have my tags when I went. My travel agent had sent me a letter that said I was booked with DME even though I had no confirmation (other than the letter)

When I got to Orlando, I was going to go down to the DME desk and describe my luggage. As I was passing baggage claim, my bags were coming out so I grabbed tthem and took them with me.

When I got to the DME desk, I found out that the travel agency had not added me. This was no problem. The nice man behind the counter asked me for my return flight info, then made a phone call and added me to the DME service. It took about 5 minutes.

He did not even need to see my letter from the travel agent.

I think you will be fine....

Encouraging news: In the Orlando Sentinel:
Airport urged to halt Disney shuttle

But the livery association says those employees [with the white gloves] are also soliciting Disney-bound tourists who did not reserve the service ahead of time, meaning they have far greater access to potential customers than other transportation services, which are banned from the third floor [of the airport].

ed. note. But the CM's represent hotels, not transportation services.
