Do I need my DVC member card for the cruise?

This is my second cruise, both using the family's DVC points. On the first cruise, we combined it with a stay at a DVC resort, and I had my membership card with me to ease registration. However, this next cruise, the Med Cruise, will not have anything DVC-related prior to it. I know that DVC have special "meet 'n greet" events during the cruise. Does anyone know whether I will need my card as a means of identification, or do they already know that based on my reservation?

I doubt if you will need it for anything. But I would probably write down your membership number and MS phone number, just in case you have any problems and need to verify information.

No need to bring your card. They'll know.

jns - there is usually a DVC Members Party which lasts about an hour. The ones we've been too have been in the morning and they have coffee, tea, juice and pastries. Everyone coming in gets some DVC goodies (baseball hats, lanyards, pins). Then they usually play a game where some win some other nice DVC prizes (beach towels, bags, etc).

Of course it is also a time for them to introduce you to the sales staff on board, talk about buying more points and show you ways to use your points.

We've always enjoyed going.

BTW this usually happens the first sea day and you get an invitation in your room (even if you booked using cash). However to be safe you can ask at the DVC desk the first night and they will tell you when and where (it isn't in the navigators). There will be some DVC events listed in the navigators which are more to tell non DVC members the benefits of DVC. Everyone is welcome to that and they love having members come as well because we are a walking advertisement for them. I've won a prize at this event as well.
