Do I need Dr. Phil???

I am just you, also. I have found through the years, however, that all that planning makes for a much better trip. As obsessive as I am planning, I am able to totally relax on the vacation itself knowing there will be few if any surprises. I have to wait until August 2005 for my cruise and it is killing me.

I did exactly what the rest of you have all done for my Thanksgiving '03 Magic Cruise. I wasn't the least bit let down by any of it.
That being said, however, I think I built it up too much for my family. Although they had a great time, I tend to hyperbolize in the set up, and they were somewhat let down.
But when looking at the pictures, it was evident that we all had a magical time.
Have fun planning, and enjoy your trip!

my name is suzanne, and I too,am a DCL/Disboards addict. But the funny thing is, my husband is a closet board addict also. I catch him reading the posts when I walk away from the computer. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he is registered under another name!;) I know you're out there honey, it's ok. You can fess up now:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Interesting that my wife made a comment last night about my obsessing over our cruise in November. I have a folder of DIS threads and travel information that is probably 4 inches thick with advice on how to get the most out of the cruise. We have six children and I want to make sure they truly enjoy the experience of a Disney cruise! I felt that SOMEBODY needed to obsess over this--it can't be too unhealthy! I also go to this site at least three times per day and even go to the Port Canaveral web cam to look at the Magic and Wonder in port on the weekends knowing there are some lucky folks on board!

I am also the perfectionist - plan everything type. I must say that the two DCL cruises that we have been on have been excellent. The planning helped make it happen. My kids cried when we had to get off the ship last trip! The only thing I can say is that if you are planning this for your one and only once in a lifetime Disney Cruise - be prepared to become addicted and find that your life will be consumed trying to figure out how to finance more DCL trips. Talk about addicting...

JNC, don't panic. I did the same thing on our trip in 2000, which was my first ever trip to WDW. I practically researched to the point I knew which stall to choose in each restroom before we ever left home.

I didn't get to do every little secret that I had found out about, but I did get to do some. I had some things that slightly didn't live up to the build up, but so many other things exceeded expectations that I didn't care about the others.

Now, I am doing the same thing for our 11/28 Wonder cruise, and I am getting more excited each day. If Disney lives up to what I have come to expect, I am sure I will want to stay on the ship when we return to Canaveral. You may hear about someone getting arrested for refusing to leave the ship on 12/2!

Best vacation ever. You will have a great time and your expectations exceeded. :boat: :jumping1:

I have saved a lot of $$$ by using advice from these fine folks. My DW and I took an NCL cruise several years ago and did not find it nearly as enjoyable as our TA described. I think a lot of that is due to not having any "inside" information on what to do and how to get the best value out of the cruise. We sort of wandered aimlessly about and found things that interested us. These boards allow you to listen to great advice from people who know the way to get the most from a DCL cruise. I'll continue to read and glean the information from here to make our first DCL cruise very special. I figure if it all goes well, my DW will be convinced to sign up for another before we finish this first one!!! That will certainly make the DIS board reading worthwhile!!!:Pinkbounc

My name is Angie, and I am a DCL addict. My DH made fun of me for visiting these wonderful boards every day, until we were checking in for our cruise and I asked if there were any upgrades available. Someone had just cancelled their cat. 3 suite and we grabbed it. He turned to me and said " I didn't we could upgrade at the pier". Your welcome, honey. ;)

The only thing I can say..is relax and don't overplan...that only sets you up for disappointment on the cruise. If you don't have the same server or experiences other people have..you could be disappointed.

Just go with the flow..don't be disappointed if there isn't a towel animal in your room on the first night (I can't believe people complain about this).

All the special things..depend on what castmembers you come in contact with..you can not force the magic!!!! You may not fell any at all. You have a long way to go before your cruise..you are just setting yourself up for a let down!!!

My sentiments exactly. Well said.
