This trip we will be going 8 nights and have 10ADRs planned....including the following. The one I have not been able to get or fit in our schedule is Chef Mickey, do I really need it?

Arrival day - Beirgarten Dinner
Day 1 -- Hollywood and Vine Lunch
Day 2 -- Akershus Breakfast
Day 3 -- Crystal Palace breakfast
Day 4 -- California Grill(Adult only Dinner)
Day 5 -- 1900 Park Fare Dinner
Day 6 -- Tusker House Breakfast/Raglen Road Dinner
Day 7 -- Ohana Breakfast/BOG Dinner
Departure Day

This depends on if your family wants to see the "other" main characters. You will see Mickey & Pluto at the 'Ohana breakfast and Donald at Tusker House. So you just need to decide if seeing Minnie & Goofy are important to you. We've done Chef Mickey's on our last 2 trips. We are most likely dropping it from our list this year in favor of just 'Ohana breakfast.

We went in 2011 and that was by far our least favorite thing we did on the trip. As long as you aren't counting the six hour layover in Atlanta because our first flight was delayed and missed the connection. Then it is the second least favorite. ;) We were really disappointed in the experience vs the price.

We love breakfast at chef Mickey. It's a must do for us every trip. The kids love all the characters and everyone loves the variety on the buffet, I'm not typically a big buffet fan but I do like CHef Mickeys for breakfast before heading out to our first visit to MK. It marks the start of our trip.

Chef Mickey breakfast is a must do for our family on every trip. ::MickeyMo::MinnieMo

It sounds like you have a bunch of character meals already, so, no you don't "need" it. On our last trip, in '11, I tried and couldn't get Chef Mickey (we've never been, and my youngest dd LOVES Donald). But I did get Crystal Palace and CRT. This time, I got Chef Mickey, so I hope we like it!

In my opinion, it seams like you have your character dining set. I like Chef Mickey's, but after your 6th character dining experience, how much more do you need?

With that said, character dining with kids on the dining plan is a good value. Character dining is expensive, so it looks like you are maximizing the plan.

I have been to Chef Mickey's for breakfast and dinner. I thought both buffets were decent.

You don't "need it", you have a great set of character meals. If you really want a character meal with Minnie & Goofy, I'm pretty sure they both appear at Cape May breakfast. Someone else may be able to confirm. I haven't done the breakfast myself but did stay at Beach Club once and saw Goofy so he's for sure there. Otherwise I'd stick with what you have and plan on a FP+ or 2 with the missing characters in the parks.

Ditto the others who said you've got some great character meals planned. If you are on the dining program and have the extra TS, then go ahead and keep trying for Chef Mickey. But I don't think any of you will be disappointed if you don't get it since you have several other good meals. :)

It's a matter of opinion, I'd say. Do you feel like you need it? Personally, I wouldn't want to do a character meal every single day. I never enjoy my meal at character breakfasts/dinners (with the exception of Garden Grill and 'Ohana because they're family style). I am not fond of buffets anyway, all the getting up and down for food, especially with kids. Then, throw in the characters stopping at your table, and you have to stop eating for pictures and to juggle autograph books, trying to keep your food and drinks from spilling on them. Well, I find them tiring lol. Obviously not everyone feels that way. ;)
