Will be staying @HRH 2/13 - 2/16. Originally, I had booked a AAA rate and purchased my family's park tickets on-line using a FAN discount in November, 2004.
When checking available rates in January, 2005, I became aware of Preferred AP rates available at $139 for pool view rooms (approximately $140 less per day than the AAA rate originally booked). Over our 3 day stay we would realize savings of $420, less the $80 extra/difference for an AP.
When I called Loews' Central Reservation Number, the operator said it "would be no problem" to check in early, get our room keys for FOTL privledges and proceed to the park to upgrade one of our passes to an AP. She indicated that I should, at the end of our day at the park, bring the AP to the reservation desk for verification of my number/receipt. I received the same information from a reservationist at Universal Vacations (who did caution me not to enter the park, but to speak with personnel at their outside information booth, and they would guide me through the upgrade process).
However, when I contacted the concierge at HRH to book child care, she indicated that I MUST produce the AP when I first stop at the hotel. She reiterated that if I don't have the pass at that time, I will be charged "rack rate"!!!!!!
At the risk of seeming paranoid, I'm now debating whether I should, despite the inconvience; go directly to the park, upgrade to the AP, then checkin at HRH to avoid the dreaded "rack rate".
Has any one else experienced this situation? Your help would be appreciated!
