Do I need ADR for two?

Last year my husband and I went to WDW with no ADRs at all, and we ate at a TS place for both lunch and dinner everyday. We just called and made reservations in the morning for lunch, and in the afternoon for dinner on the day of. Now, we were not always able to get into our restaurant of choice (Le Cellier was booked the entire trip), but for the most part we were able to get in someplace without too much of an issue. We ate in Italy, Mexico, England, 50's PTC, Rainforest Cafe, China, and Victoria and Albert's.

This year however we are going during free dining. There are only two of us. Do you think we will need ADRs for this trip, or will we probably be okay for a reservation for 2 the day of? Any help would be appreciated!

I would certainly suggest an ADR, especially during the free dining period! ADRs are free, and you can always cancel them later, so why not?

I certainly recommend getting ADR's.
In Sept when I am going I did make my ADR's three weeks ago. Now I have been trying to change a couple and nothing is available during the three weeks I am a WDW. So to me that is a good indication that ADR's are really, really necessary.

Reservations during free dining are going fast (and some already gone!) for parties of all sizes - yes, I'd definitely make a reservation if you want to eat any table service that week.

If you are willing to eat at pretty much any restuarant, aren't picky and do make ADRs even though its the day or or the day before, you will probably be able to eat. However, don't be fooled into thinking that since you are "only two" you will be able to be seated. The majority of the tables at WDW are for four people. Even though two people will fit at a four person table the restuarant may very well not seat you as they can make more $$$ from a four person table.

I made my ADR for 50s Prime Time Cafe as soon as I could for dinner the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend at 7:30. For two people. I had to change that the other day to lunch for the same day. They still had lots of spots open right up until 3:40.

We never used to make ADRs, but last year we went during free dining and had trouble getting into many places. The year before we walked right in all TS restaurants without even a wait. From now on, I think we will make ADRs for a few key places.

I have already made our ADR's for free dining for our mid-Sept trip (maybe 2, or 3 weeks ago?). We're only two but I was urged on the boards to make ADR's. We wanted mostly early ones in order to be able to do stuff after dinner as well. For a bunch of restaurants I tried they either had openings at 5 or 5:30 or almost 8. For instance, for Le Cellier on a Monday night I made an ADR for 5:40 but they didn't have anything else until 8 or so but we wanted to see Illuminations so that was out.

I also figured earlier ADR's would guarantee food by at least 6 and less of a wait for tables. ADR's are for first available after that time- not a set in stone reservation for that time.

Seems like a lot of the 2 person ADR's have been booked.

Free dining has definitely made people wake up and make ADR's earlier than ever before!

Only DD (10) and I this trip end of September. Called 2 weeks ago. Was able to get into LTT pre-MNSSHP, but there was ONE LeCellier opening left for a Thursday night at 8:50 PM!!!


We took the Chefs de France at 5:30, and I think we will be very happy there.
