Do I need a website?

I've been making jewelry for a while and have been selling quite a bit too. A friend suggested I get myself a website and make it a bit more professional but for a start, I have no idea how to do this, and I'm also not sure if it's necessary.
I've been looking around and it seems a few peope have a facebook page and something called etsy. I've also seen this kind of thing http://website.1and1.com/create-personal-website which creates a website for you.
Is it worth me putting money into this? It's basically just a hobby but it would be nice to make some money out of it too.

I've done ok with just a Facebook page. I plan to do Etsy as well. My advice is to not overwhelm yourself.

Thanks, I'm not that technologically minded so might start with facebook and see how that goes before doing anything else.
