1st of all I would like to give you all a big thank you!! we had a huge hit to our finances at the beginning of the year, hubby did not draw a paycheck at all from January to June....I made the descision at the time to go hard and try to pay off my upcoming Disney cruise with free found money ....I didn't feel it was an expense that needed to be paid for with our saving or emergency fund as currently it was possible we would have REAL emergencies to possibly tend to.
I learned a lot from this board and combined it with things we were already doing to save $$. I was able to completely pay for my Disney cruise in Dec ...the only thing we out of pocketed was the deposit which was paid last year when things were great for us. I tried everything I could.....and I have to say that Perk and Swagbucks really helped make the difference in finding the money for he cruise. So today I paid my final balance off from my Disney Vacation account...... and even thou my hubby has been back to work for a few months I decided to keep my new found momentum going and save for the next cruise...DO I need a new DVA account for each trip....or do I just continue depositing in the current one after I request my gift cards???
Thanks again for all the money saving tips shared on this board.....I may have not needed each one but gathering bits from each post here and there as it applied to me and my family made a huge difference!! It has reaffirmed my commitment to saving more than ever.......
