Do I need a DAS for crutches?

My wonderful husband has surprised me with a trip to WDW (staying at SSR) for my birthday/ our anniversary, and this will be first time we've been there since they changed to the DAS system. I am a long-term forearm crutch user who wears leg braces, a back brace, and sometimes wrist braces. I'm just fine with standing in lines, but I need slow boarding on rides and somewhere to put my crutches while I'm on a ride. It sounds like I probably don't need a DAS for this, since it's an obvious physical disability, but I know you all are the experts on this. Also, can you still use your room key instead of Magic Bands? I don't think the Magic Bands would fit over either of my wrist braces. Thanks for your advice.

I use forearm crutches from time to time. I have used them at Disney. On most rides they just went into the vehicle with me. If it wasn't safe for me to keep them with me on the ride, then the CM would take them for me and hold them until I was getting off the ride.

The purpose of the DAS is primarily to allow the user to wait outside the lines. It is WDW's position that most mobility concerns can be handled by use of a wheelchair or ECV, or if the guest is already using another mobility device (crutches, cane, rollator) and a DAS is not necessary.

If you wish to have the moving walkways slowed, simply ask the CM -- I'd mention it to each CM as they may direct you differently depending on the ride.

Enjoy your vacation!
