Do I have to use Magic Bands?

You can use an RFID Card (Ticket) in place of a MagicBand. If Undercover Tourist sent you what should like like a green card with a Disney character on it you're already set. If they sent you paper tickets with a barcode, you will have to stop by a ticket window at the park and they will give you a RFID Card. The card and MagicBand are interchangeable for Park Entry and FP+.

Yes, you can use a ticket card if preferred (the green ones with a character). They will work at all tap-points. If you are onsite though, the MB will be your room key and I don't think they give out cards for that anymore. Also, you won't be able to charge. The final difference is that the MB can be read to automatically add your ride photos to your PhotoPass or Memory Maker without having to stop at the monitors or counter to tap your card. If you are carrying the MB anywhere on your person though the photos should still come through.

You just won't automatically get onride pictures/videos "captured"-that requires the long-range RFID in the MagicBands.:)

We used the cards during our last trip and they work just as well for park entry and FP+. If you put them in lanyards they are just as easy to carry around too.

Yes, we received the Green Tickets, so it's good to know that we can still use them if we want. Nobody is thrilled with having to wear them around their wrist in 90F weather
But, we are onsite, so I gather from your message that we will still need the MB anyway, to use as the hotel key. Maybe we can just carry one in a bag or purse to use to get into the hotel?

I hadn't thought about Photo Pass though. I would assume that we could link all of our MBs to one Photo Pass Account? I'll have to read up on that.

Thanks!

You don't have to do anything extra, the photos will just appear in your My Disney Experience account if you have your MBs with you. We would loop them onto my camera bag or a belt loop if we were uncomfortable. Honestly though, they weren't so bad in the heat, but my friend hated how it would rip out his arm hair.

If the rubber band is getting sticky and sweaty, the cloth covers they sell can help with that. Otherwise, you can just loop them on a belt or bag, etc. You can even cut the down to kid-size (remove the grey/black part) without harming functionality if you want to make them smaller.

They still give cards that work as keys. Says so right in the info about the MBs on their site.

But Brian is right about the covers they sell. They do keep you cool. They are made of what I'd describe as swimsuit material, they aren't cotton, and they don't get gross with sweat.

We just got back. This was our 5th MB trip. I originally thought the bands would be hot and annoying, but never had a problem including in early September (when it is ungodly hot and humid) and just a few weeks back in June. You don't even notice them after a while.
