We have 5 cats and 3 dogs, all inside. I love all of my furbabies, but we probably should have stopped about 3 animals ago. Sometimes it just gets to be a little much.

So today, DD17 calls me at work. Our next door neighbor, who has at least 8 cats (I've lost count) and 2 dogs, had found a box with 5 scrawny, dirty puppies in her neighbor's driveway. Sadly, one got away when she opened the box and even though she, my DD and DD's BF looked all over, they never found him. She wanted us to take the remaining puppies in until we could get them nourished and cleaned up. Of course, I agreed. Luckily, another animal lover decided she would take them. Phew, I'm off the hook.

Well, I get home from work about 7:30pm and what do I find? Why, a kitten eating out of our other cats bowl. My neighbor had heard a meowing in her back yard and there was this kitten. The temp is supposed to be down to 28 tonight so she couldn't stay outside and her father, who's 95 and lives with her, put his foot down. So, naturally, she brings the kitten here.

She is beautiful and so, so sweet. We feel like she must belong to someone around here because she looks well taken care of, although she was very, very hungry. Anyway, tomorrow DD16 and our neighbor are going to put flyers up and see if anyone will claim her. If not, we'll probably take her to Pals for Paws to see if they'll find her a home.

I just have to keep telling myself, "NO, NO, NO, YOU CAN'T KEEP HER!!!"

Yes, you have sucker written on your forehead...and I have it written on mine, even though I'm one cat and one dog behind you. :rotfl: We had 2 of each until my DD went to college and then I talked my DH into a kitten. We went to a Petsmart adoption and he wanted to bring home 3 kittens. I actually put my foot down (first time I've actually done that with cats, dogs, or kids) and we brought home 2, which is what I really wanted. We do not plan on any more animals for a very long time, and I hope that we don't have any that end up on our doorstep. And no, I can't get more cats everytime one of my kids go to college, especially not since I have 4 kids. :rotfl2:

We currently have 1 dog & 3 cats. Our latest addition came in October. I found her at work and she was very friendly. When I got home and told my DH, he had to drive back to my office and see if it was still there. Of course she was. I was able to get a hold of her and we took her home.

We took her to the vet on the thursday and after checking her, they informed us that she was maybe a year old and also about 6 weeks pregnant. They felt in the shape that she was in, under weight, with worms, that she & the kittens would not survive if she went to term. We went ahead and had them aborted. She is now a beautiful cat. We have named her Angel, nickname - Rodent. She's kind of our trouble maker. The other 2 cats are much older so she is the baby. We think she is part Maine Coon cat. Because she moved in, our oldest cat moved into our bedroom. Our dog, Bambi, a white german shepard, has no problem with her and Angel loves Bambi.

I guess I have "Sucker" written all over me too.

I hate to say it, but DD16 has already named her Jade because of her beautiful dark green eyes. Oh, please, please, please, let somebody claim her. :scared:

Some municipalities have pet limits. You should make sure you aren't exceeding yours before you adopt another pet. I think pet limits are a great idea and could prevent some of the situations you see on t.v. where a house is full of cats and dogs that have fleas and receive sub-standard care. I think a limit of three total inside furry animals is reasonable.
