Do I buy a new stroller?

DD is three years old. We are DVC members + have AP's, so we'll be going to Disney at least 2-3x's in 2010.

DD is tall & too big for her umbrella stroller, but renting 3x's in a year seems too pricey. Especially since we'll be using it again in 2011 & beyond.

Do I just go buy a new "nice" stroller? Her long legs only seem to fit comfortably in a jogging stroller (aka pricey).

You can either buy a nice, new stroller, or look in consignment stores and/or thrift stores for a nice, clean stroller. It would certainly cost less than renting one!

My DD6 is 46", and her only complaint about the Volo was that she couldn't sleep in it, because the backrest ended about at neck level. Her legs were fine. So I wouldn't necessarily assume that "looks uncomfortable to you" translates to "is actually uncomfortable for her."

I will say that IMHO the Volo works better with slighter kids. DD is only about 38 pounds, so not anywhere near the weight limit, and she takes up all the room in the seat. OTOH, we got this stroller when she was 2, so have gotten 4 years of Disney vacations out of it, and she may be using it next year, too. (Non-walking-est child ever, and given the choice between pushing her, carrying her, or listening to her whine, pushing makes for the most-pleasant vacation for everyone.)

Check craigslist.org to see if a jogging stroller is listed for sale. Also check to see if there are any consignment sales in your area. I use thebargainwatcher.com to look at the local sales near me. Not sure what other states it might do. I just bought a Volo as DD is 5 but I agree, I would rather push her than carry her or hear her whine!!
