Just thought you parents that are trying to instill good manners in your children would like my story. We have a huge zoo near our home that has a tram that runs through out it. This Summer we for the first time we gave our three boys 11, 12 & 13 some freedoom there. We went over all the rules including who you must give your seat up for on the tram. Of course I included pregnant women. My "bright" 13 year old ask me," If we are not sure if she is pregnant or not should we ask before we offer her our seat?" . I assured him it was better to just assume she might be and give up his seat!!!

So if on the bus or monorail and you are unsure if she is or is not, we have now learned, Don't Ask!!!!!

Even worse to make a statement to that effect without asking. I had a neighbor do that once after I had my first daughter. "A little soon to have another isn't it?" "Um, yeah---good thing we aren't pregnant".

Yep! I had people at church assume that I was pregnant with my second child about 6 months before I actually was!

They probably thought that was the longest pregnancy ever!

Sounds like a good rule to me!

Once I was in an elevator with two other women. Lady A reached over to Lady B and patted her tummy saying, "How far along are you?" She had her baby 6 months prior.

We just checked out the new Mimi's Maternity that opened and they had a T-shirt that had glittery gold letters that said Pregnant. The first people that came to mind were the Sorrentino's for their trip in October.

A bit OT, but why do perfect strangers think it's 'ok' to touch a pregnant woman's belly? I have never been pregant but have friends & family who have been, and I just never understood this invasion of private space. I would never even do this to one of my best friends or family members without asking.

Very cute story. It's nice to hear somebody that is going over what good manners should be. We do this with our kids so that they are prepared. It amazed me when I was pregnant and riding mass transit downtown, how many men would try to pretend that they didn't see you standing so that they didn't have to give you their seat.
