I am planning on meeting some of my family, who are FLA res, at WDW. My ? is.....we are getting two rooms but they only plan on staying for 2 nights while I plan on staying for 4 or 5 nights.....Can we only book my room w/the discount for THEIR length of stay? Or is it a matter of the deed being done as soon as we check in? I don't want to "rip off" the system, however, I really would like to have the discounted rate for my entire stay.

You could stay longer I believe, but both rooms will have to be in your Florida family's name.

We are going with my Mom (a FL resident) and have 2 rooms booked. She is staying for 3 nights and we are there for 9 nights. Both reservations are booked with her name on it somehow and both confirmations were sent to her. She must also be present for check-in (required).

According to Disney Reservations (CRO?), she can book up to 3 rooms at her rate, but SHE must be there at check-in. If a CM tells you something different, either have them double check that with a supervisor or call back and get a different person. Some of the CMs seem to have less experience with things than others, but I was told by several CMs who double checked with their supervisors that this is okay to do.

Have a great time! Hope you get a great rate!

We have done this without issue in the past. My DH's cousin and family came down for 5 days but we only stayed 3. We were there at check in. The room I had reserved for them was switched to thier name and thier CC for charging. They stayed on an additional 2 days after we left with no change in room rate. Hope you have a great vacation!

This is treated like any other resort check-in. The price of your room at check-in will remain the same for the entire length of your stay. Each reservation can only have one price assigned to it in the Disney computers. If you check in with the Florida rate, you get it for the entire stay.

Same thing would happen if you were dealing with an AP rate instead of the Florida rate. The person with the AP only needs to be there for check-in. If the AP person leaves in 5 days, the folks in the second room can stay as long as their reservation is for (7, 9 14 days, etc) and still get the AP price.

Great! Thanks for the expert advice! Now I'm crossing my fingers that there will be FL Res rates so that I can use the extra $$ to surprise my family with an illuminations cruise!!!
