Just wondering. If we book with points within 120 days of our last cruise do we get $200 stateroom credit and a bag or whatever the freebie is.

Also does the DVC offer Springtime Magic discounts on cruises?

Thanks in advance.

Caroline

no you won't get the ship board credit. We asked aout this at the DVC cocktail party on our cruise, and the rep there was extremley snotty about it. I was really a bit offended at his attitude. He said they were not making any money off of the dvc and that value of my points was not what I thought. Carol and marsha can back me up on this one, at least I had witnesses.

But i believe you will still get a duffle bag or something of that sort.

Don't count on ANYTHING using points. We got NOTHING and we had a cat. 6.

MSDIS,

We did get a bottle of champagne, did you not get one of those? The steward even made us sign a reciept saying we had recieved it.

Pat

We had heard from these boards that we probably would get a bottle of champagne but we didn't get anything. But we did have a GREAT time, which no little token could have take the place of.

DCL has recently reinstated the shipboard credit for those DVC members booking on points. It is true that for a while they were not honoring the Castaway Credit for DVC members booking on cash, but cuurently they are honoring the credit.

Thanks, Robin. That is really great news. Hope they keep the policy.

Robin,

Is that only on those who book with cash..or is that also on those who book with points?

I got the shipboard credit booking with points for 2 adults and cash for 2 kids.

I have another question -- I want to know if I can pay for the AMEX program.

The AMEX Carribean Magic White Glove package. The purchaser gets $250 on-board credit and special previliges Priority resv at Palos, recreation package on Castaway Cay ( 1 hour bike rental, all day floats and tubes) bottle of champagne, memory book, pin.

I called DVC and they said no, but, as some of you who call know, the reservationists don't always know the programs.

I am going to try again just to make sure. Has anyone gotten this booked. It's not a request for a freebee, this program is purchased. I think it's worth it because as I recall the price is slightly more than the credit.

The AMEX Program is available to those who purchase their tickets with an American Express card. I'm sure they have the information on their website about how to do that.

The American Express add-on purchase package can only be done through your travel agent (or DCL). DVC does not honor this program.

I would like to point out that this is different from the "White Glove Treatment" which is available when you book your cruise totally on AMEX. This is a package that you must purchase and then the benefits come with it.

The CC shipboard credits are currently being honored by DVC for those booking cruises on points, however, it is not available in conjunction with any other promotion or discount. For example, you cannot use it along with the Fall Fantasy special which offers reduced points for particular cruises, and shipboard credits. Hope this helps explain! :D

We got the bottle of champagne our first cruise, the tote bag with Castaway club sport bottles for our second cruise and we are getting a shipboard credit with our upcoming 3rd cruise.
All cruises were booked on points.

DH wants to go on the 7-day cruise after our WDW trip in Dec - we are hoping to find another deal like the one offered this fall but we were both wondering what these credits are for? Do you need to take money on the cruise? I thought everything was paid for in advance but I have never been on a cruise. Can anyone help me out? Thanks (I hope this question doesn't seem dumb). Also, where did you find out about these champagne gifts, etc? They are not mentioned in the cruise book or the website.

Alysa,

If you haven't visited the Disney Cruise Line discussion board here on the DIS, I would encourage you to make a visit and look around. You will find lots of great information about taking cruises and about the Disney cruises in particular. I have learned a lot on that board in preparation for our planned summer 2003 cruise (e.g., you do still need to pay for some things on the cruise like your shore excursions and certain beverages as well as gratuities and some other things).
