Do DISers still wear lime green mickey heads?

When you get to WDW, check out the larger shops. There are luggage tags in several colors...one is lime green. I have one on my bag usually. Haven't seen very many in years. It was possible to see many DISers in the parks. But, a few less than pleasant people pretty much made me rethink going up to strangers. I was in line at Soarin' once...noticed a woman with a LGMH on her backpack. It was obvious as to what it was...no mistaking it for anything else. When I tapped her on the shoulder and said 'I see you're a DISer!', her response was, and I kid you not 'Yeah, so?' and she turned around, back to me for the rest of the wait time. Geez...what was the point of having that on your bag, lady?!
I have met many very nice people though. My dd used to be terrific at seeing those lime green spots!!! If your tag is big enough, it's nice to have your screen name on it. Many of us are more visual, so tend to remember what they see vs what they sort of hear!!

Be careful what you wish for.

In the Lime mickey period I saw a large, very tacky bed sheet with giant lime green Mickey head hanging from a balcony of the Swan. It was hanging off the Epcot-facing side of the Swan. Nobody could take any pictures of half the hotel without that ugly sheet in the way. It was VERY ugly.

A short time later, we stayed at Pop. Again someone had very tacky display: the entire exterior of their hotel room decorated in a mishmash of poorly made poster board signs, mismatched Mickeys, lime green heads, assorted colored lights, stuffed animals. The door was completely cluttered!

I appreciate a simple strand of holiday lights, or a few stuffed animals, but I decided I didn't want to exclaim kinship with the above style of display.

Folks regularly boasted about hoarding pilfered paint chips back then. I'm glad it is over.

Mind, if you wish to make your own green head and put one on your bag that's fine, but pilfered paint chips and tacky displays just make us all look bad.

I do agree that those people went a little too far with the idea! :crazy2:

Funny part was, many folks back then defended both ideas! I think maybe WDW outlawed external room décor.I haven't been at Christmas lately, but I haven't seen any external room décor either in quite some time.

The rest of the time, I think most guests actually want pictures of the resorts as Disney meant them to look, especially the newest AoA resort. The external theming is what sets the resort apart.

Maybe a cultural shift also happened. Pictures are VERY big right now.

I still have a LGMH paint chip that I laminated years and years ago. It's hung in there, and I attach it to my bag whenever we visit a Disney park. I've met a few Disers that way. I promise- if you tap me on the shoulder I'll be happy to talk to you!

The most surprising encounter was having a CM in Tokyo Disney recognize my LGMH.

I saw that LGMH luggage tag in WDW on our last trip and snagged one.

I've also seen plastic Mickey-shaped clips (like chip bag clips) for sale at WDW. I got a lime green one at the Pop Century gift shop. I wore it on my backpack for the next two trips but nobody ever said anything to me about it. :(

I picked lime-green (at least it looks like lime green on-line), for my magic band:)

I like this idea! Will have to come up with something for my trip in a few weeks! It would be nice to have a universally recognizable button!

My heart lurched a little when I saw a reference to PandyPaws in the present. :( That link is 7 years old - a wee bit in the past to be looking for current ideas, IMHO.

We made our own "tags" to hang on our bags / belt loops while in the parks. They had the lime green mickey head, along with my screen name, and DIS, and our own picture on each one. Laminated them, and hung them with carabiners. Never did I have one survive an entire trip though, we always managed to tear them, mangle them, destroy them, or just outright lose them before our trip was over.

I always wear my Dis sun visor cap,it's white with lime green letters Dis on front and moderator on side.I also wear a lime green Moderator t-shirt with Dis web address and Moderator on front left near top of shirt. So if you see me please say hi I always enjoy meeting fellow Disers,

We will have ours on this next trip. I am fairly sure my wife has a Dis fanny pack somewhere as well. We have met Dis'ers in the past because of the lime green. Pretty cool.....

Never heard of this before and we've been going to WDW for years! I'm going to be searching for lime green items for our trip in November. Thanks for the hints and ideas. Would like to hear more? Thanks OP for letting us not in the know know about this!

I am one of THOSE Dissers who pilfered many a LGMH paint chip from Home Depot. I have them taped back to back with clear packing tape labeled with my screen name and the DIS (even have a few decorated with an eyepatch for when there was a pirate theme going on here a few years ago) Punched a hole between Mickey's ears & hung them from all of my disney bags with plastic swiftatchers (used in retail tagging). They have all made it through many years of disney trips relatively unscathed. I have run into a few people, not many, and have also had the "why are you talking to me" looks. Oh well, I will continue to use and look for those mickey heads!

Count me in! I've already got some craft supplies left over from a project I just did. I'm about to make my lime-green mickey head key chain for my August trip... now ;)
