No. Speaking of books, especially self-published ones, there are ways that authors can "work the system" to get fake reviews on Amazon, so after reading so many barely-edited books that got glowing reviews, I take them with a grain of salt.

No, not at all. I decide for myself what I like to read and what I want to see.

I usually just check to see if there are any inappropriate scenes. I may be a teen, but that does not mean I want to see things that are unmentionable on the boards.

Nope. To me, they are there just to critique it and pull it apart. To analyze it (or IMO, over analyze it). I just go to enjoy the movie. Not to pick it apart. I'm not in college taking a literature course.

I listen to the /filmcast podcast and I will use their reviews on movies and TV shows. One of the TV shows I watch because of them is Game of Thrones. I never would have watched this on my own, but because they were huge fans I gave it a try. Even though they are my own kids ages, I find we have a lot of the same tastes in what we watch.
