I am new to the boards and am planning on taking my girls to Disney in June. I wanted to know if I needed to bring their birth certificates to show their ages. My daughter will just have just turned 3 a week before. Is it possible to get away with not having to buy her a ticket? Thanks so much for any insight.

Warning....Hot Topic!! No you do not have to show ID but I have heard of CM's chatting with kids and asking them "how old are you, princess?" (for example) so beware if you dc is honest then you might be put in a potentially embarrassing situation.

I took my kids to disneyland a few years ago and my son was already 3, but he is the size of a 2 year old. I just went up to the ticket counter and told them how many tickets I needed and walked on through. Nobody questioned us or stopped us.

I did call before hand and talked to someone and she said as long as he looks 3 or under he will be fine. She said people with kids that look 8 try to pass them off as under 3. LOL!

I don't believe you need to show id's unless you were going to enroll them in the variety of kid clubs where they have to be age 4 and pottly trained to attend. ;)

I have a friend who took her foster children (she only fosters children under 3) and they would not believe her foster son was under 3, she had to prove with the letter she got from the state allowing her to take him on vacation. They actually made her go back to her resort and get the letter before allowing them to enter. Strangely he was just turning 2 that week, was nonverbal and though he was a bit tall for his age (wore a 4t at the time). He could never have answered the how old are you questions, he was still making infant sounds and had just learned to walk. But they still required her to prove his age.

VERY hot topic. Do a search on this one and you will find that many people get very upset that others try to lie about their children's ages to save $$.

We actually planned our trip to avoid dealing with the age issue. We are going a week before my twins turn 3, and I am bringing their birth certificates. I hope that the CMs will feel that that is proof enough of their ages.

When my DD was 2, birthday in November and we were there in July, a CM was very pushy about the age issue. At 2 she talked very well. We did not have ID for her and were beginning to get the feeling that because we did not that he was going to make us purchase a ticket for her. While I am all for them asking or questioning, this CM all but accused us of pulling a fast one. After our "interrogation" we were allowed to enter.
