Do characters have their own pens?

Do I have to bring my own pens, if I don't care what they sign in? I thought I read somewhere that they would have their own pens/markers??

No you have to provide. And you should bring something that's easy for them to grab with those big gloves.

We find clickable Sharpies to work well. I found a pack w/ multiple colors at Walmart or Target before our last trip and dd had a great time choosing which color each character should use.

There are a few characters that aren't allowed to use Sharpies though so have a back up w/ you. The one I definitely remember that can't is Lotso, but there may be others.

Buzz and Mr. Incredible use stamps that they have. There might be one or two more, but can't recall.

:rotfl: I read your thread title and thought you were asking if the characters were kept in individual pens somewhere in the park (as opposed to a single big pen I suppose) :rotfl:

The character themselves will not specifically have a pen. For no other reason than what would they do with it? After they sign your book, they normally will then pose for the picture, and if they were still holding a pen, odds are you or your child would end up with Sharpie marks on your shoulder or side. Now most "good" handlers will have a pen/marker with them. However, if they handler is answering a question to someone behind you in line, it slows down the whole process while you wait for them to finish, get their pen, etc. Much better for you to have your own, even if it just the one from your hotel room.

I agree. Clickable sharpies are the best thing for the characters to sign with. We love them.

I don't know if anything like this still happens, but I know on my very first trip, Peter Pan (the one we saw at CRT- does he even make appearances there anymore?) signed with a green crayon that he carried with him. Just thought I'd mention that here because it's a bit interesting, if for no other reason.

Now that you mention this, I do remember Peter Pan jumping to grab a writing implement he had hidden on the window of Tinkerbells treasures (or whatever it is called now) when I saw him last trip. He stuck it on the frame of one of the upper panes so it was out of sight, but completely within character to hop up to grab it when needed.

I also read the thread title wrong, but in MUCH more perverted a way than you did . . . . :littleangel:

I bought a clickit sharpie and I think I'm still going to put it in a zip lock baggie when we aren't using. The thought of sharpie all of everything by the end of the trip - not good.

Anything else besides a sharpie?

Normally their attendant will have a pen if needed; however, as someone else said they aren't always right with the character and can be dealing with the line or answering questions so in general it is definitely better to bring your own; however, if you lose your pen or forget it... you still might be able to get an autograph :)
