Do Cell Phones work?

We have Cingular, and our phones have always worked pretty well at WDW. Not too many dead spots.

Cingular also merged with another co. a few months ago, and there calling areas improved as well. I know our service here in Ohio, improved tremendously.

Last year, we had At&T(the company that merged with Cingular). We didn't have any problems at all.

DH and I both have Cingular and his phone didn't work in the parks (it was a blessing, he uses his phone for work and usually gets at least 15-20 phone calls a day even while on vacation) my phone worked fine but please don't tell my DH.

I have Verizon and its always worked at WDW, even in places where I thought it wouldn't work.

My DH and I have T-Mobile and they have always worked in the parks. My sister and her DH have Cingular and they also always worked in the parks. However, none of our phones worked inside the Belz Outlet Mall! Luckily, the guys didn't stray too far from us and were easy to find.

Cell phones do work fine at Disney...unfortunately, many people leave their brains at home and think nothing of gabbing the whole time they are on a ride or at a show. Even standing in line can be pretty annoying when the person is speaking full volume and having a conversation of a somewhat private nature for all to hear.

So use your phones to find your friends and family, but please use your brains too and only use your phones in appropriate places.

Do cell phones work in Disney World?

I've seen a lot of suggestions for pagers and Walkie Talkies, but no mention of using cell phones.

I'm planning on using our cingular nationwide family plan phones.

Any comments or suggestions?

I've always used my Cingular phone in WDW. No problem!!

We have used various cell phone companies on past visits. Last trip I have Nextel with the walkie talkie feature and they worked great. Even made a call deep inside space mountain. Disney employees also where using Nextel for their comunications with other employees. With that in mind Nextel must have a tower on WDW to make this work

Indeed.

Nextel is Disney's communications provider now, replacing the old motorola "walkie talkies" for a solid connection.

The nextel phones work EVERYWHERE on propery, in the MK Tunnels, in deepest buildings. They have special receivers around property, and as far as I am aware of, they are the only provider with a tower on property.

Tracfone?

Our last trip we utilized the walkie talkie thing with our teenage sons and that was a mess. Too many other kids doing the same.

I know my verizon phone works as I had that the last trip there. My daughter has a tracfone that we want them to use this time and are praying it works there.

Has anybody used a tracfone is WDW?

Thanks

Jodi

We used our Tracfones at Disney in February and they worked fine!!!! :cheer2:

I don't know what might make a difference for other folks, but we had no problems at all.

Elaine

P.S. Tracfone has a great deal for a Reconditioned Nokia 1100 + 40 minutes airtime (60 days service) for $19.99 and you can get 100 bonus minutes by buying through a referral from a current customer. So you end up with a phone, 140 minutes and up to 120 service time all for $19.99 ... plus I think you get 10 bonus minutes for activating on-line and 10 more if you register your e-mail with them!

Just back!! Used Cingular with no problems. I actually got better reception at Disney than I get at home!

Does anyone have US Cellular or Suncom? I'm wondering whether these companies work OK at Disney?

We have US Cellular and last March when we were down none of our US Cellular phones worked. Didn't even pick up a signal to roam!!!!!!!

With that said, we went on a cruise to Jamaica and they worked fine there.
