Do Canadians (Ontario) get referral credits?

Hi,
My husband and I are beginning the purchase process for AKL and are trying to use a Canadian DVC member as our referral. My agent told us that Canada is exempt, but our Canadian friend thinks Ontario allows referral benefits. Has anyone had any experience with this - or a success story about someone from Ontario receiving the referral credit?

I just became an owner so I haven't been able to take advantage of it, but the dear friend I've rented from in the past definitely has been the recipient of referal credits..... thanks to me!!

Residents of Ontario are not eligible to receive referral credits. Our purchases can certainly earn referral credits for those in states that allow them -- but the good province of Ontario is "saving" us from the evils of referral credits.

That's just not right! Maybe we can boycott something until things change...maple syrup? lol.

Ha, you think Ontario has it bad..... try buying DVC in Alberta. They flat out say NO!!!!

I thought Ontario is only province register with DVC, so they would get the incentive reward.

I was curious about this and looked throughout the DVC member website and couldn't find any info pertaining to Canadian members. Maybe the existing member can call their guide and ask.

That is a good question. Even though they are registered to sell in Ontario I am unsure about the referral credit. We did a referral knowing full well we would get nothing but I really like our guide and she sent us a nice thank you card.

DVC is certainly registered to sell to residents of Ontario calling from their home -- however they cannot provide residents of Ontario with the referral bonuses given to some other DVC members. There are also certain states in the USA that do not allow the awarding of referral bonuses.

There are ways around it -- however, since the Disboards frown upon the providing of information that may lead to unfair advantage, I will keep those suggestions to myself.

We can't receive referral credits. However, if you are in Florida and someone takes a DVC tour because you referred them, they periodically give bonuses for that. One vacation the couple we referred and we each received $50 (or $100 each, can't remember ) in Disney dollars. We all went out for a nice dinner !
