Do big Disney movie releases impact crowd levels?

I've been seeing lately people talking about very high crowd levels in a way that makes it seem like it's unexpected and/or unusual. I'm just curious if big Disney movie releases impact crowd levels? Maybe with Beauty and the Beast coming out last week it got more and more people into the Disney World mood?

Why are people acting surprised at the crowd levels then? Shouldn't it be obvious that spring break brings larger crowds?
