Do AP rates sell out?

Hi,

Does anobody know if AP rates can be sold out? Of course they do when the hotel is fully booked. What I want to know is if they have a set number of rooms for the AP rates. If so they can sold out at a time that it is still possible to book the room at the normal rate. I know this is the case with the general room only codes if they come available, but is this also the case with the AP rates?

Yes, it is possible.

Yes, they only allow a certain number of rooms at a discount for AP holders so once they are gone they are gone. You can still book at rack rate.

There is much confusion though that if someone cancels their AP booked room if it goes back to an AP discount room or if it goes back in the general pod of regular rack rate rooms.

Yes, they do sell out. Some people have already reported on this board that a particular resort over their particular dates have already sold out.

Of course, someone could always cancel their reservation - but there is debate as to whether those rooms are released back into the "general rack rate" pool or the "AP rate" pool.

Oh yeah they sell out fast.
I wanted to book WL for April 17 to 28, nothing available but the Honeymoon suite (too much for a solo trip) at $410/night. I mean nothing available during the whole period, not even one night.
Ended up booking CSR for April 20 to 25 and POP April 25-29.
Next time maybe the WL

Well this ties in with a question I had. Why was I able to book an AP rate for 4/13-4/17 at WL just a week ago with no problem? I always thought the AP rates sold out right away, but I'm thinking that more open up when there are cancellations. Or maybe it was because the current season will be busier? I'm not sure. I just know that there was another time I was able to book the AP rate long after they were posted. I did call first thing in the morning though, looking for new openings due to cancellations.

I've found that after the codes first come out, and the lines are jammed at CRO, many rooms sell out temporarily. We always wait until about six weeks to a month before traveling to get our reservations, where we have never had a problem getting a discounted reservation at one of the deluxe resorts. From what I understand, however, the values sell out and stay sold out. These have got to be the most sought after rooms by most WDW visitors, probably because you can get a room for the same price as some crummy Kissimmee Days Inn.

The whole thing about if the AP rate goes back in the pool or not- last Nov. I was looking for rates for AKL. I kept calling back as soon as I saw it available as a res on the WDW site, and when I told them it was available and to check for the rate, it was there. So, I'm not sure how it USUALLY works, but when I was looking, the availability seemed to go back into the AP pool. My 2 cents worth.
