I read in a Disneyworld guidebook, that Disney resorts cash personal checks up to $50. Does anyone know about this?

Last year I called them and asked, and was told sorry, no. You can pay for your room and room charges with a personal check a tthe end of your stay though. At one point Suntrust operated a bank (more like a service desk) in the MK and would cash a check for up to $50, but they aren't there anymore, and now that Bank One is the new provider of choice for banking services, I don't think they are offering that service.

Bop28, ATMs are located in every WDW resort (at least they have been in every resort I have stayed in so far). They're also found in the theme parks & water parks.

Q. Are there ATM machines inside the Park?

A. There's an ATM presented by Bank One near the Park entrance on the left near the kennels, at the bridge between World Showcase and Future World near the DVC kiosk, and at the American Adventure near the restrooms.

Swan and Dolphin will cash personal checks (sorry--can't remember the limit--it was either 100.00 or 200.00 per day) for their guests.

We had money issues while we were there a few weeks ago because of the blackout. We're from Cleveland and bank with a credit union and so we were unable to get cash from any ATM machine from Thursday when the blackout started until Saturday after 6:00 pm when our credit union got their computers back up. We charged things to the room, but you can't charge food stands, etc. The CB said they cash checks for up to $50.00 for guests. We ended up having enough cash on hand to last us so we didn't need to cash a check with them.

Pstepka, I'm glad you posted that. In the past, we have always been able to cash a personal check at our resort's Guest Services desk for $50 or less. We had to show our resort ID, along with a photo ID (drivers license) in order to cash the check. I haven't been to WDW this year yet, so it's nice to know that I can still cash a check if need be.

They did not indicate if it was 50.00 per day or only one check for 50.00. But, it WAS nice to know we could if we needed to!

We actually had check out issues on Friday due to the fact BCV computers could not 'contact' our credit union to approve our Visa Debit Card due to the blackout! Good thing we were vacationing with friends -- they paid our bill for us and let us write them a check.

And I thought I had escaped any effects of the blackout by being at Disney!!

Pstepka, we were always told by the Guest Services Cast Members that it is $50 per day. When we asked why that was so, they stated that Disney is not in the banking services field, and if we needed more money, to either use the ATMs or any of the local banks. :D

Things like the Black out is one reason I always try to carry one or two old traverlers checks just in case. I always hang on to any not used on a trip and keep for emergency use.
