Do any of you know of a reputable company that turns ashes (cremation remains) into jewelry? Kind answers only, please.

My only sister died 2 weeks ago from a sudden illness. 😢💔

I’m on my way back home (different state) and my niece just asked me if I’d like any of her ashes.

I hadn’t given this any thought and I wasn’t prepared for it! But they were at the funeral parlor and had to know who wanted some.

So I asked that if it wasn’t too much trouble I’d like a small amount. I figured that I could either spread in the ocean near where I live, or have a piece of jewelry made.

After a quick internet search I see that there are a ton of different companies. And that’s what led me here, to ask the good people of the DIS if they had any recommendations. 🤔

Thank you in advance.

P.S. I still can’t believe that my beautiful sister has passed away. 😢💔

I'm so sorry for your loss. I ordered my necklace with some of my mom's ashes directly through the funeral home. Is that still possible for you? I'd be hesitant to send off something so precious and irreplacable to somewhere I found on the internet.

I will say that it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. I wore that necklace 24 hours a day for about the first year. It made me feel like she was still with me. I don't wear it often anymore, but it has a place of honor in my jewelry box, and just opening the box and looking at it brings me tremendous comfort.

Again, my deepest sympathies.

So sorry for your loss. I was at a family funeral last week, too, and I was looking at the jewelry for ashes that they had on display. They had some interesting pieces and I thought it might be a nice idea if the circumstances were right.

Do you not want to use the already-made jewelry and want to make your own, specifically? If not, I’d maybe check in with some funeral homes local to you to see what they have. Good luck.

I recall your posting about 10 days ago of your sister's passing, Tamara. I have no suggestions for you, but do think it would be a treasured memory of your sister. And again, my condolences to you and your and her families. God speed for your sister.'s

I am so sorry. When my dad died suddenly, I had a thumbprint taken to make jewelry. I never got around to it and I'm glad I didn't - personally, I think it would make me very sad to wear daily (not comforting like I had thought). My advice is to WAIT. Anything grief related, WAIT. The jewelry may bring you a lot of peace and comfort... or not. Take the ashes and hang onto them for a bit.

Sending you so much love and many wishes for peace.

I remember seeing a company on Shark Tank that turns ashes of loved ones into diamonds. I don't remember the name and don't know if they are still in business.

My sympathies for your loss.
My Mom died in January 2022.

I had some of her ashes made into a blown glass heart necklace and some more made into a blown glass hummingbird. She loved hummingbirds.

Unlike the thoughts of a poster above - my necklace and hummingbird have brought me so much comfort. I don't wear the necklace every day - as I am not a jewelry person at all, don't even wear my wedding rings and quite honestly, I shocked myself when I wanted this necklace.

However, I feel such comfort and peace when I am especially sad and missing my Mom. I reach up and rub the heart and it's probably sounding very cliche - but I feel her love and it's like she's giving me a hug and whispering in my ear, "Just breathe, it's ok. I'm here, I'm here."

Here's the link to where I purchased my necklace and hummingbird - they have many options on their site.

I'm so sorry for your loss, my heart breaks for you. We had our fur baby cremated after she passed away and did not know what to do with the ashes after we did it. My wife and I decided to get matching pendants with our baby's ashes set in them, they were made by a really nice lady in the US. The hardest part for us was scattering the rest of them in the ocean. The pendant does help with the closure, it's hard even now but having a little piece of her with me helps get me through the hard times. the shop is Sugarberry Memorials if anyone wants to see her work, its absolutely stunning.

I had a friend of mine also make his father's ashes into a glass ornament, which is also stunning, I don't know where he purchased his, it might have been at Spirit Pieces like mentioned above, they have similar orbs to the one I see at his house.

Sorry for your loss.

I had looked at Spirit Pieces, but ended up using Living Glass and was very happy with them.
