Do any of you ever pack a suitcase full of your own "groceries"?

We have brought quite a bit of food for breakfasts, snacks, and whatever dinners we plan to eat in on both of our visits to BCV. We have brought peanut butter both times in checked luggage without incident (I had heard peanut butter was a problem and called the airlines before we flew both times to ask about checking it, and everyone I spoke with seemed to think I was crazy for worrying about it). Definitely follow advice to double and triple bag things--both trips we have had a can of shelf-stable apple juice concentrate pop. Double bagging contained the mess, but its off our list for the next trip.

I have done a variety of things - from shipping a box down (always remember to put your ressie # and check in date on the box), to carry on, to checked bags.

I pack smaller stuff, like bars - inside disposable containers and then use them to store leftovers in the fridge while there or for eating cereal etc while in a studio. Don't like those paper bowls!

I had heard that checked bag screen would show up food as an item for them to verify. I asked a TSA guy at MCO while leaving once. He told me that yes, food will often show up as a suspect item, but they just open the bag, take it out, rescan, and then put it back in. He suggested that you always pack food on top and together in one area of the bag so they have an easier time finding it and you have less worries with having the bag opened.

I love the idea of sending food down in a bag all on it's own! I have a bag that has a broken lock and had stopped using it for checked bag. Now I will think about sending food down in it as a checked bag instead. I usually do send it back checked, filled with dirty laundry, so I don't have to worry about locking it!
