I dont remember with my daughter, but that is to cute!!!!

My family is Jewish but my 2.5 year old cousin is in the hospital with a bad case of bacterial pneumonia (night number 5 in the hospital).

A charity gave her a big pile of wrapped presents this morning (as they did every child on the ward) and my aunt and uncle said she was soooooooo confused. She is a really smart girl but they are hoping she doesn't wake up tomorrow wondering where more presents are.

My neighbor's kid totally gets it - he was 2 in August. They told him it was Jesus's birthday (and bought Jesus a cake) and he told everyone Jesus is a baby so he's going to blow out the candles for Him, because babies can't blow out candles. They also told him about Santa and when I stopped by this afternoon, he was quite excited to show me what Santa brought.

Now, Russ on the other hand, had no clue what was going on. He probably just thinks a Little People factory blew up in our living room.

My dd is almost 20 months old and I was actually very surprised at how much she did get about it this year. I wouldn't say she totally understood everything of course but she knew who Santa was (although she doesn't totally grasp the concept of that yet) and she was all about the presents. She tore into those suckers as fast as she could and when she was done with one she would look at us and say, "More?" It was a lot of fun...much different than last year!

Some get it, some don't.

Just enjoy the complete joy the young kids have opening up gifts, spending time with the family, and having all of the attention!

We just adopted less than 10 days ago, DD is 2, she didn't know anything about Christmas, Santa, Presents, nothing... I did a super crash course teaching her Santa and Christmas, lots of Christmas movies, took her to see Santa, she spent a LONG time with Santa. We told her Santa would bring her lots of presents. Then on Christmas eve we told her to go to sleep and in the morning Santa would have presents for her under the "Christmas" (that's the tree) So when she woke up, we told her, Santa came, which she thought that Santa was actually here, again she really liked Santa. But instead she saw presents and she kept saying, Santa got me lots of presents. She spent about 90 minutes opening presents.
