DME?

Our flight gets in at 9pm, coming from CA. We are still trying to squeeze in a nice dinner at Disney Springs that evening. I'm sure we will be hungry. We are taking DME to POR. I was thinking of making a 10:45 ADR at Homecoming. What is the easiest way & fastest to get there. I'm assuming DME only goes to our resort? Then we have to get to Disney Springs. I wonder if we will make it in time & how?

DME can be slow especially with late arrivals from the west coast. They will fill one bus full of people from many resorts and stop at all of them until they're done.

We usually rent Avis a car. We usually hit Walmart on the first day to load up on breakfast, snacks, water, and pop. We take frozen water bottles with us in a backpack to keep the pop cold. The savings on drinks alone pays for the car rental. You can self-park for free at the Disney resorts. If you want to go somewhere other than the parks to eat at night it’s nice to have the car. If you forget something or someone gets sick you’ll be happy you have a car. Disney World parks are spread out so you can either drive between parks or take the buses. The buses can take up to an hour to get you between parks.

You will almost assuredly not make it if you take DME. Rule of thumb is allow 90 minutes to reach your resort, then you’d have to make it to DS. No deal.

Either grab an Uber/Lyft (depending on how much luggage you have) or pick a different night for that dinner.

This is no longer true. All resorts now charge for overnight parking for guests staying there.

I stayed at Animal Kingdom in February and Aulani last December. As DVC members we got free parking. That's likely the difference.
